Assuming LSU goes undefeated..

..that means they have to defeat the teams on their schedule (inc. UGA, UF, Bama, TAMU that are higher ranked).
Let's also assume that other teams ahead of LSU in coaches poll also go undefeated.
Ohio State
Oregon/Stanford
Clemson (plays UGA and USCe)/ Florida State
Louisville (plays no one)
Notredame (plays Stanford)
Which of these teams will LSU leap frog? Tall order - considering that some of these have been successful and high profile programs. Will an undefeated team from SEC gain an automatic berth to the NC?

In your scenario, LSU undefeated, we in. Against PAC 10 undefeated.
However, I think only one team out of all the major conferences will go undefeated this year (probably out of PAC 10). I actually think the SEC really does beat up on each other this year. A lot of great teams in the SEC this year.
While we are predicting, I also say Texas A&M self implodes and loses 3 or more as Johnny boy looses his team's respect.

In you scenario OSU would stay number 1. That would be two straight undefeated seasons, and the pollsters will reward them for having to sit out a year.

Did we not have the same number of preseason top 25 teams last year? And quite possibly the year before?

If LSU is unbeaten after the SECCG they will be playing for the NC as the number one ranked team.
