Man, some of y'all are just odd. Did one guy really say he will "lose his shite" if Key doesn't come back? Another person wondering if he's still enrolled and somebody else asking if he's on campus or doing online work?!

Y'all need to take a step back, re-evaluate your life, and move the frick on. It's a fricking sport. A sport that's not even in season. It's lame enough that people get their rocks off for spring football practice but some of you take it to a completely different level of weirdness.

You should probably stop posting on Tiger Droppings in the offseason, King. You're weirding me out.

No, I'll keep posting. It's baseball season so I'll talk about fricking baseball. Thanks though.

So the rant has just kind of decided he has a drug problem? Cool, good work guys!

i haven't posted this speculation, but there is evidence to support it

and a rehab stint is possibly one of the better reasons for his absence. if that guess is true, it's a problem with a solution that he's dealing with that hopefully gets his life back on track

things like grades or an attitude issue are worse options

You don't have a clue as to what the hell youre talking about, but you're going to come on here and try and spread this.

It's a message board, fella. It's where people give, you know, their opinions and stuff. This isn't a journalism board that requires multiple credible sources before going to print. People are allowed to give their gut feelings.

And you have to admit this entire Key situation is very odd, so it's not unreasonable for fans, in the absence of any concrete facts, to speculate. It's human nature.

King, did you just move here from the North? Do you not understand that college football is a year-round thing, especially at an elite football school like LSU?

And this entire situation raises eyebrows, because it involves one of the best players in the country, and the mystery surrounding his absence.

Hard for me to believe you're pissed about the reaction here.

yeah there is a limited list of possible, realistic scenarios

1. family/kid issues. this is the "best" option because it doesn't really speak negatively about Key's player status or personal life. it also has the best shot that he's ready to go for LSU in the fall. the biggest issue with this possibility is that it's not something that can be "fixed" and may linger through the season. but if he can put it behind him for one more year, he'll be a pro making millions and that should be able to help (unless the family issue is an illness).

2. drug issue/rehab. this isn't a great option but as i said earlier, it has a real-potential solution and if it is resolved he can get his life back on track. there were rumblings last year about a drug suspension so it's not completely random and the secrecy and all that fit the rehab narrative. if this is not true, it kind of looks bad as a speculation but, again, the secrecy makes speculation a likely outcome.

3. grade issue. this one is bad but fixable. the worst part is that while this problem is the easiest to fix, if it isn't fixed there is no way around the negative outcomes. if he's not eligible, then he won't play in the fall and we lose his last year. that would be terrible for LSU and Key and it's just a bad outcome all around. so worst possible outcome but there is a rather simple solution.

4. attitude issue. this one is very bad because if his attitude got so bad that he had to basically be suspended from the team, the positive outcomes are minimized to a large extent. there also isn't as much of a "fix" for this issue. college athletes with that big of an ego problem don't just change over night and it also may severely hurt his pro prospects. unlike grades, he could still play but who knows what that may result in. so there is a possible higher ceiling than the grade issue but a much more difficult solution to the problem. that's why i put this one as the worst option.

there really aren't any more realistic, possible explanations for this absence

the TAMU game suspension was heavily linked to a failed drug test

Nope, Born and raised in the south. I know football is big in the south. I'm the biggest fan you'll come across. In the fall. I think it's laughable how much people care in the spring. Why does it matter who's running what drills in March? Wake me up when September rolls around.

And pissed? No. I'm definitely not pissed. I just think it's pathetic the way some people act.

Maybe he is on a religious fast of some sort. His sister did one recently. His family is very devout.

Come on man be realistic, if it was a religious fast he most likely would have announced his reasoning for leaving . He proabaly failed a couple piss tests and he's doing what he needs to now in order to keep playing.

Maybe it's something personal to him. And just a cursory glance at his instagram page shows he's definitely taking part in some kind of religious program/fast/what have you. I don't know why it's such an absurd idea to some people. I know many people (including my own mother) who have gone on these types of highly personal, spiritual religious retreats/fasts.

If what is being done for Key was done for TM7, TM7 would never have been suspended from the program and would have finished as a Tiger and a 1st round pick.

And it's for the same reason. A 3rd positive goes in his file to the NFL
