He probably has no idea how bad that sounds.

He just doesn't emphasize that position

What Mainieri emphasizes on his staff is a discussion in itself.

There was a time when David Grewe was hired as pitching coach just so Mainieri could make him his main recruiter.

Can we talk about the second part of the quote at the top of this page:
quote:

Mainieri said recalling the phone conversation. “He was like, ‘Yeah, but I’ve heard you speak so fondly about him and say so many things, it really has made an impression on me.’
Does this really sound like a conversation Cohen and PM would have?!?

Mainieri apparently wants the public to believe he approached this with an "aw golly shucks John" attitude.

100% chance Cohen has never used the word "fondly".

WHEN?!?! When have you heard this?

It's not like Cohen and Mainieri were going to fricking brunch.

cited Occam's razor over and over despite it not being the simplest explanation.
Occam's Razor says the solution which requires the fewest assumptions should be selected.

Back in November we would have had to assume 1) Cannizaro was lying about Cohen talking to him previously, 2) Cohen was lying about not talking to Cannizaro, 3) Cannizaro lied about being surprised when Mainieri told him about Cohen going to call him, and 4) Mainieri likely knew about them lying about all of the above and so he decided to lie about it, too.

Andy tried to convince the kid to stick w LSU, but he told him that he was the only reason he was coming to LSU. Anyone that knows Andy, knows that he is a high character guy.

You know damn well that at least 10% of the reason Cohen went after Cannizaro was to piss off Paul.

I've always thought he timed it the way he did on purpose.

Don't really care about any of this. What I do know, and care about, is that Andy will have State pumped the frick up to beat LSU and Paul. I see this series possibly getting a little chippy...which would be even better baseball this weekend.

Cohen no doubt gave his wife his greatest effort in bed that night (role playing was probably involved), while Paul probably ran a google search on "what does antifreeze taste like?".

This is the story I heard as well.

Lying comes 2nd nature to coaches, especially good recruiters.

Yet you were ok with assuming that 1) Cohen wouldn't talk to a guy he was going to offer a job to prior to offering; 2) Cohen would tell Mainieri that he was going to hire Andy without talking to Andy; 3) Andy would accept a job in 30 minutes he did not previously even know he was a candidate for; 4) State wouldn't have to interview its candidate for a job before hiring him; and 5) Cohen would extend Mainieri any kind of professional courtesy.

It never made sense, Occam's razor as you define it in this situation is asinine, and you have since been proven wrong on the facts. Seems pretty simple to me.

LSU players still have a lot of respect for Canni. Not sure there's much bad blood there. But if PM gets thrown out for some reason at the end of a game we're losing and we come back to win, I swear to take back every negative comment I've ever said about him.

I took that to mean all the time PM said something in interviews on TV or the paper. But the article even says they knew each other before then, so that smacks of BS.

No, I just assumed everyone was telling the truth.

Again, my mistake.

Yep I think the one thing we know for damn sure coming out of all of this is that John Cohen is still a bitch.

Of course that would have been true regardless of what happened in this situation.
