He is retiring in Baton Rouge, and probably doing so as our all time winningest coach.

He only needs 39 wins. He can do that - even at a modest 8 wins (his lowest win count) per year, he will do that during the 2019 season.

If he "only" averages 9 wins per season, from here on out, he can squeak out win number 138 at the end of the 2018 season.

I'm not convinced LSU can get a "good candidate" because of the fan base.
I can think of 4-5 million reasons why a candidate would not give a flying frick about the fan base. Not that we're as bad as you make us out to be. A coach good enough to be considered for the position would likely have an ego. An ego that would have him believing that He could do better than CLM. Thus, not having to worry about negativity from the fans.

Jumbo back would be awesome. I wish, not likely.
Don't really care if Les leaves and goes to Michigan, though.

I don't want Miles to leave but that Michigan program has got to be bothering him and Harbaugh. One of those guys and I'll throw John too, has to take that job. In the event Mikes left I would go after Gundy. I would zero in on him because that's the guy I want. Too many times these schools go chasing rabbits. Gundy would come to Baton Rouge, it's where we found Miles.

I think Jimbo would be great too....he knows this program inside out, proven winner, already has connections with all the HS in LA and now could even do some dynamite recruiting for us in FL. Would be cool to bring Muschamp back too if he gets canned at FL

All said, REALLY hope Miles stays!!

I still get shocked that some of you would be upset if Miles left!! And one of the reasons Miles would seriously think about leaving now if that he is starting to see that a majority of the fans have turned against him, except for you few idiots who still believe in him. You are in the minority now. The animosity b/w the fans and Miles is its highest level now. If Michigan comes calling, he should go. And trust me LSu would have no problem getting a replacement. I for one would be happy to see him go!!

I'm glad that this mouth breather doesn't speak for the majority of fans.

Also, the "we can get any coach we want" mentality has done wonders for Texas and Tennessee

Les is of the most successful coaches in the game today. The LSU program is one of the most successful in the game today. Even with that, you have a stadium half empty sometimes and idiots in the stands booing his moves and LSU players such as JL, JJ, and Jennings. If you don't think actions like those will not give other top replacement head coaches pause, you are fooling yourself.

Some of our clown fans think they can act like spoiled, entitled tools without it costing LSU anything. They cant, but they are too stupid to understand that fact.

Fwiw I used to workout with a QB coach who knew Fisher really well. One reason Fisher left was because Miles would try to take over the offense at key moments during games/the season. They apparently used to get in shouting matches over it.

I dont know why "the fan base isturning on Miles" did we really expect to go undefeated this year?

Because two former LSU coaches have four national titles in the last 5 seasons

It's going to be interesting to see if you equally put unrealistic expectations on the next future lsu coach as you do les miles.

They'd definitely in the hunt under Harbaugh, but doubtful they'd win it all that soon...they still have to beat an SEC West team to reach the pinnacle...

a more successful coach wouldn't be making these bone headed moves, hence, not getting booed. The boos aren't happening in a vacuum, they are happening for a reason. If you want them to stop, then stop doing stupid things.
