You've all seen 'em...these local Louisiana folks who can't wait to don their Alabama teeshirts or caps when LSU and Bama are ready to battle. They are so proud of "their team" and they like to rub it in the faces of true LSU fans how "they" beat us year after year.
NEWSFLASH: If you have no connection whatsoever to Alabama....if you have not lived there, went to school there, have a relative playing there, etc, you are a phony fan. A better term is "BANDWAGON FAN". That's right, you are a generally a "loser" who wants so much to be a winner that you jump on the bandwagon of the most popular team in the country, the team who has domintated football for the last decade and beyond. YOU BANDWAGON FANS should get a life cause you are the ones who demand a participation trophy in all things you do just because you were there. A true fan experiences the jubilation of winning as well as the disappointment of losing, but they remain loyal to "their" team.

We have the same type fans in Mississippi pulling for LSU.. especially around the river towns. Vicksburg and Natchez. I’m pretty much on the stance if you didn’t attend one college class there your pretty much a bandwagon fan too. But that would make a lot of fans bandwagon

My buddy is a Bama fan. I’m pretty sure he couldn’t name 20 current players.

I have a good friend from Missouri who is exactly what you are describing. It’s shocking to see his complete adoration of the Tide and how arrogant he is about it and them!!!
He’s an otherwise swell fella, but his Alabama arrogance and shooting off at the mouth is pathetic. He has zero connection to Alabama other than football.

One of my favorite things to do when I see someone with Alabama gear on in NW La. is strike up a conversation. Then somewhere in the conversation I say, “ I was trying to remember who the coach at Alabama was before Saban. Who was it? The blank stare I get from them tells me all I need to know. They are bandwagon fans.

Several years ago my driver had the "Bama" car design for the Talladega race... almost made me ill to have to pull for him in that car.

I was making small talk with a clerk the yesterday while checking out. He was talking about what to do when he gets off in a few minutes. I suggest diving into some college basketball since they had so many great games on. Listed, Kentucky, NC, Kansas, Mich St., LSU, etc.

He leaned forward and said, "yeah, but i'm a bama fan." I just laughed and told him i'm sure he is a life long fan. Then I asked him if he only watched Alabama basketball, and he just looked at me confused. Something tells me that guy couldn't name one player on the Alabama team.

I think for many people it is just the cool thing to do to try and be different. I just say keep them to task. So that when Alabama levels off or comes down they don't sneak off to the next hot team. Weird thing is I can't find anymore Florida or USC lifelong fans down here. They use to be everywhere...

IDK how much longer Nick Saban has however once they start losing it will be interesting to see how many Fairweather Bama fans are in Louisiana

Jesus, people, we’re now making the same kinda of statements about The Gumps that the happy dog Cajun fans make about LSU!

Good teams get bandwagon fans, it happens. It’s an indication of success. LSU has their share as well. Lets try not to be like Ragin Cajun fans.

It’s nothing new

Every decade the teens and 20 somethings follow the trendy team

There were no shortage of FSU and Miami starter jackets in the 90s

Typically it's been ULL fans that show up with all the Alabama crap the week of the game. this year I had a shite load of so-called Ole Miss fans that were posting pictures of themselves with Alabama crap saying Roll Tide. People love to hate of LSU

My favorite is all the posts from ULL fans saying

“At least we put up 14 on bama...LSU couldn’t even score a point”

Except, those mouth breather don’t realize their team scored 14 on bama’s 3rd string.
