Maybe uncertainty remains and McNeese only offer he has? Maybe he can still bring his recruits and he’s passionate about coaching and wants to maintain those relationships? I heard 2-year deal so maybe he’d prefer to coach and bet on himself and be in a stronger position in 2026? Maybe he doesn’t want to move his family? Maybe he thinks he can return to LSU?

Wade is in line for Duke or one of the blue bloods.

Why would he go to McNeesy.

Again though, has he officially been cleared ?

Maybe I’ve missed it but either he has or he hasn’t and if he has, I’d think he would have some decent P5 offers coming pretty quickly

If he recruits that area well, which he would, Mcneese will be better than LSU in no time.

He’s not going to Mcneese lol. The only reason he would not get a bigger job is if he has a show cause and in that case he couldn’t coach mcneese either

Is a reunion possible?

It's logistically, if not theoretically impossible. Will Wade is like my girl...gone, gone, gone.

The real basketball fans would love it. Woody though isn’t going to admit he was wrong and bring him back.

He is not still living in BR, his house is still for sale though, CWW would love to come back as he still loves LSU but it would take some serious arse kissing by Woody and Tate as well as the facilities upgrades so desperately wanted.

ETA: Let me clarify, the deal is not done with Mcneese although it is an extremely strong possibility. There are multiple other schools still after Wade but Mcneese is most likely scenario. Also Wade has already had his hearing, he is NOT getting a show cause and will be coaching next year.

As a LC resident, I'd buy McNeese season tickets tomorrow if this happened tho!

I'm sure Woodward is already looking ahead to hire the next equivalent of Kelly, Mulkey, or Johnson for his next MBB coach.

LSU basketball is not LSU football or baseball. And there isn't a Louisiana native HOF coach in MBB that would possibly consider a return home. So the "Kelly, Mulkey or Johnson" hire is not there unless an unexpected opportunity presents itself. LSU MBB doesn't have the cache to go out an poach a highly successful major conf. coach from a major conf. team. Brian Kelly is not at LSU because Notre Dame is cheap. He's here because LSU has proven it can win championships and he wants one. Jay Johnson is not here because Arizona sucks. He's here because LSU is one of the handful of teams in the US that are fully committed to college baseball.

To get a "big name" coach, LSU has to take advantage of unforeseen opportunities if/when they arise. Chris Beard this year is one such opportunity. Another may be if Kentucky decides to move on from Calipari. Or, perhaps the Bulls would want to move on from Billy Donovan and he would consider returning to college. THOSE are the only shots for LSU to get a "Kelly or Johnson" hire (and they would be longshots even then). So the notion that Woodward is just stockpiling money to throw at a big name later is ridiculous. Mick Cronin, Scott Drew, Tony Bennett, etc are not leaving their powerhouse programs to come "rebuild" LSU basketball. They can and will be paid well by their current employer and not have to waste time with a "rebuild" to maybe one day compete for championships again.

The path for great success by LSU is via one of three ways:

1. You hire a mid-major HC ready to break out in a major conference (similar to Nate Oats)

2. You hire a longtime assistant from a major conf. powerhouse (see Lloyd at Arizona and Tang at Kansas St.)

3. You catch a "fallen star" at just the right time in history (see Chris Beard this season, and Pearl and Calipari in prior seasons)

Thinking that Scott Woodward is some sort of AD savant is ridiculous. He's good at raising money to take advantages his individual athletic teams have. LSU mens basketball doesn't have the advantages of football and baseball. So he has to be more bold or more analytical in finding a championship caliber coach than just hiring the "hot name"

No, it’s not. Why would Will Wade return to LSU? I’m sick of hearing about Will Wade daily with rumors about this and that and shoulda, coulda, woulda with Will Wade.

With an elite talent like Wade you take the risk.

Take the risk of what? someone is gonna hire a guy who may be told tmrw that he can’t coach in college for 5 years ?

I don’t think that’s gonna happen just using it as an example

It’s surprising to me he’s still living in BR and if he continues to coach in LA, I suspect he might keep his current residence

One commute across the basin bridge will be enough to compel him to move I’d wager haha

I mean everyone loves a 4-5 hour commute to work and back. Easy Peasy with Baton Rouge traffic and going over the Atchafalaya Basin twice everyday.
