This may come as a surprise to you, but baseball is more popular than gymnastics, and newspapers try to print stories and headlines that will be popular.
So you think most LSU fans give adman whether a player's favorite walkup song is from Lil Boosie or the Big Bopper.
I don't give a damn how popular baseball is a match between a # 2 LSU gymnastics team and a
# 9 Auburn team deserved more than page 9 coverage.
The Advocate didn't make the decision to over emphasize baseball coverage for circulation reasons. It was just lazy editing and taking the easy way out this weekend.

BRAH?
This is the kind of quote that only comes from a parent, sibling, or spouse of someone involved in the gymnastics program. I am guessing a father.
Everyone knows that gymnastics takes skill, strength, and dedication in order to be a top individual and team. Reality is, no one cares. Gymnastics doesn't remotely come close to moving the sports needle except once every 4 years in the Olympics. If women's basketball can't get any traction in the media and on here, then gymnastic doesn't have a prayer.
Grats to the team for being good and winning, but don't expect much, if any, fanfare. I'm not saying it's right, but that's just how it is.

Yeah, it's not like the school is building the team a new practice facility...oh wait....

This thread would've gone a whole lot better for you if you posted pictures of the gymnasts.

Well then my suggestion to you would be to buy the Advocate. Then you would get to decide what gets in the paper.
I'm just really confused by what you're trying to accomplish by coming on this forum and bitching about what the paper does or doesn't cover. Are you hoping an Advocate editor will read this and reform his ways? Are you asking for help in a letter writing campaign? Or are you just being a little bitch.

I agree, but did not want to overplay my hand.
By that logic The Advocate would sell a lot more papers with pics of the gymnasts instead of baseball players.

I would put a $100 that this guy is a family member. No one cares this much about Gymnastics otherwise.

No, I just wanted to experience what the Glenn Guilbeau, Scott Rabalais, Deke Bellavia, Mike Detillier, Jacques Doucet, Tim Brando detractors on this board experience.
Actually I linked the Advocate article to what I perceive as the cult like following that some people have to the baseball program and pointed out several examples of the absurdity of the commentary in the three months leading up to that first of 56 games on a cold February night in the middle of basketball and gymnastics season.

Jesus, the responses to the OP pretty much verify the level of intellect that pervades this board. Even the fricking Gumps value gymnastics (perennial national powerhouse). So a worldwide sport is not interesting enough for the mouthbreathers on this board? Well the rest of the nation is evolving to appreciate global and sophisticated athletic endeavors, let's us LSU tiger fans stay in the stone age, shall we?

You do realize this is opening weekend, right? If you don't see how that is a big deal to baseball fans, you are too dense to even have this conversation with.
I don't begrudge you and other baseball fans your love of the baseball program. I am just as passionate about the basketball program, have been for years.
That does not mean I expect such widespread coverage of basketball while relegating a #2 gymnastics team to the back pages. Again had the same article and a couple of pics run on page 2 or 3 that would be fine.

Hey look, LSU Baseball doesn't even care about Gym. Left them out of their tweet, LSUSports had to correct them

You don't actually believe this, do you? You really don't think there are more people reading the Advocate that are more interested in the baseball team than the gymnastics team?
I don't know if that is true or not. ITs irrelevant to my statement. The gymnastic team deserved better treatment than page 9. I still doubt the decision was made to generate sales, it just seemed like lazy editing to neglect the gymnastics team.
