Its been covered that Les hasn't seen the QB's this summer (due to NCAA rules) so wouldn't it make sense that he would want to put his own eyes on Harris' progression before making a decision?

Wouldn't it be safe to assume that Les' statement is based off of spring practices & the spring game though?

I honestly believe the biggest mistake Les made was not hiring a true OC with QB development in his toolbox rather than letting stud run the offense. Neither Lee or JJ would have won on 1-9

Maybe. I think Les has been listening to people who have watched the 7 on 7 workouts and such. He may not have watched BH personally this summer but you know he has information coming in. Maybe the receivers are coming to him and saying how much he has improved at calling the plays and how much more consistent he is. At least that's what I think. I think that's why Les has that grin. He's been hearing how improved Harris is and he can't wait to see it himself.

Saban & Smart brought A gap pressures right into his face that game & he folded like a cheap lawn chair.

Yep. And when he wasn't getting it done, Miles put in Jefferson. In the NCG, Jefferson stunk it up from the very first play until the very last one, playing the entire game.

I agree to an extent here. Stud was a dud. There's no doubt about that but Miles was in a pretty tough position heading into that season.

Nobody could have envisioned Kragthorpe being diagnosed with Parkinson's in between the time he was hired & the start of that season.

Les made due through the 2011 season with Stud & it would have been hard to hire another OC/QB coach after the SEC Championship game & have him fit in before the BCSNCG. That would have been a difficult task. The biggest mistake was not putting together a search to find one after the season was over. No way should they have gone into 2012 with Stud as OC.

The difference in both games was the offensive line play. The line showed up in the second half of the GOTC. They didn't show up at all in the BCSNCG. As bad as Jefferson was, the running game was even worse. But hey let's place the entire blame on one player when in fact the entire offensive unit didn't play worth a frick.

In the central place of every heart there is a recording chamber; so long as it receives messages of beauty, hope, cheer and courage, so long are you young. When the wires are all down and your heart is covered with the moss of pessimism and the ice of cynicism, then, and then only, are you grown old.

I wouldn't doubt for a second that this isn't happening. I wouldn't be shocked at all the players aren't being asked to grade their peers & turn it into the staff on a regular schedule. It's an easy way to keep the staff informed as to how the 7 on 7's are going.

JJ made 65% of the throws within the gamepplan. Don't kid yourself Lee would have done better with all that pressure. A couple more int wouldn't have helped the situation.

The more things change, the more they remain the same. Why so many gullible people on this board?

I liked how he, Les, smiled when saying he had heard great things about Brandon Harris over the summer. This could be an exciting year for LSU.

Yay. Four posts into the thread and someone turns it into a Jefferson vs Lee bitchfest. That shite was four years ago. We lost. Get over it.

3-9 2 int can't take a hit and throws the ball blindly in the air when pressure is applied, that Jarrett Lee?

But with Jefferson in the first half of the SEC championship game that year the offense went 3 and out on all 7 possessions and finished with 12 total yards. That didn't cost him his job. Hell he only had 30 yards passing in a game we ended up winning 42-10.

I'm still shocked that people can believe anything out of Les Miles mouth.

Yeah, Lee really sucked against Alabama in 2010.

You mean the one pass, that was great, it was. It sealed the deal. I'm however speaking about 13/34 181 yards 1 TD 4 ints in 2008, 4/10 44 yards 1 int in 2009, and 3/7 24 yards 2 ints in 2011.

Now facing one of the best defenses in modern college football (best or second best of this century at least), on the biggest stage in college football, with Lee's track record against that team and propensity to collapse against them or anybody when heavily pressured, I'd rather we not go that route. If people that Jefferson was bad, think of what Lee would have done with no running game to help.
