A tribute to Tiger Stadium...best stadium in the SEC!

Hat's off to LSU AD Joe Alleva, who has improved Tiger Stadium to the point where it is the best in the conference.
Right now, Tiger Stadium is one of, if not the best of the SEC stadiums. It's the fourth-largest of the four 100,000+ seat stadiums in the league, and it has the second most suites and the second most premium seating in the SEC overall.
Simply put, Tiger Stadium has the best combination of seats, suites, premium seating overall, and the highest amount of chair back seating overall among all the stadiums in the conference.
With 136 suites, it's second only to BDS' 157...but since TS's suites are generally larger, TS actually has the highest suite capacity in the SEC. UT's Neyland Stadium has 120 suites, and Kyle Field will get up to 114 suites in 2015.
And TS has 6,200 club seats, far more than Kyle Field (will have around 5,000), BDS (around 4,000), or Neyland Stadium (around 3,000). Only Arkansas' RRS has more club seats (around 8,000).
And out of all the SEC stadiums, it has by far the most chair back seating, as I proved in another thread.
10, 20, 30, More...What percent of your football stadium's seats are chairbacks?
So to compare the four largest stadiums...
1) Tiger Stadium - Fourth-largest, second-most suites (highest total suite capacity, all have a capacity of 23), second-most premium seating in SEC. Also has most chair back seats in SEC stadiums.
2) Bryant-Denny Stadium - Third-largest, most suites (most are fairly small at 16 capacity, with a few at 23), fourth-most premium seating in SEC.
3) Kyle Field - Largest, fifth-most suites (Founder's Suites will be largest suites in SEC), third-most premium seating in SEC.
4) Neyland Stadium - Second-largest, fourth-most suites, fifth-most premium seating in SEC.
Of all the stadiums in the SEC, Tiger Stadium has the most upside. There is still an end zone left to expand to, and there's a ton of room for gameday condos to be built into the stadium.
The near future will bring light rail onto the LSU campus, with a rail link to NOLA. There will be restaurants, bars, and hotels built right across the street from the stadium.
Add in the gameday experience, the unmatched tailgating and the unmatched food, and it's a slam-dunk win for Tiger Stadium.

Maybe the exterior, but the concourses/bathrooms/inner workings of the stadium leave much to be desired.

What is this light rail you speak of? This is the first I am hearing about this.
Being that I live in Nashville and could take a cheap nonstop southwest to NOLA and then rail up to BR and the stadium, that would be the tits.

TAF deserves their due, no doubt, but it was Alleva who spear-headed the drive to improve Tiger Stadium, starting with the windows.
And don't forget, it was Alleva who sent the architects back to the drawing board, because he didn't want an expansion that involved road work.
Because of that decision, the gold standard for how to expand a stadium has been set. If only this idea had occurred to architects sooner.

Across Nicholson Drive...
I'll say it again...there will be nothing remotely like it in the SEC. Restaurants, shops, and bars right across from the stadium. Which is a good thing, as it allows fans to have a good time while the traffic dies down after games.

Went to bayou country superfest over the weekend and it looks awesome!! Crowd was 55,000 and it was very loud. Ears will be ringing for days after the bama game with a crowd of 100,000 plus. I was Sitting on the west sidelines about the 30 and it looks like the sound end zone goes straight up from the field. One of the scoreboards is up (was not on) it looks huge.

There is room for improvement there yes. But IMHO, LSU went about improving Tiger Stadium the right way.
The revenue from the additional suites and club seats will help pay for future improvements to Tiger Stadium.

In the late fall the wind frequently comes from the north and exits to the south. Now that the 3 sides other than the north will be higher, I wonder if that will affect the wind. Could it give us a home field advantage ? Has anybody heard anything about this ? thanks

It's improving, but still not as nice as what Bama has. I'm sure when the Kyle Field construction is done that will be nicer than TS also. We'd have to seriously overhaul the original bowl to be on par with those two stadiums. We're definitely moving in the right direction, though.

So is the estimated capacity still around 100k or has there been any precise numbers released?

After experiencing stadium at Superfest, football Sat gamedays will be even better, the new addition is impressive, my only issue is it will be tough to see the new scoreboard when the sun sets in the west.

Excellent point..lets have ole Joe take a piss in one of the south end zone men's restrooms during a game and see if he likes it very much. Absolutely terrible facilities in that end zone.

What's up with the concrete outhouses on top of your stadium?

If you visit Tiger Stadium and are fortunate enough to be seated in the new south end zone visitor's seats, You'll wonder why your stadium...or any other...doesn't offer similar amenities.
No where else will fans be just steps away from restrooms/concessions/stairs/elevators. No where.
