there's no reason why cbs can't choose to show lsu in that timeslot especially if the other schools like bama prefer the afternoon slot.

There is a reason. It has to do with their ratings and what time slot they can sell more ads.

Its all BS. If this was Alabama's tradition CBS was screwing with, CBS and the SEC would back off. Where are our attorney's & negotiators?

What a pile of crap from Alleva. If the SEC can bend over backwards to accomodate Alabama and their demands to play Tennessee every single year, and then demand the Iron Bowl not be played on Friday on the behest of little nicky, then I'm sure LSU can demand at least one SEC night game per year.

I will just never understand why CBS refuses to flex their muscle & play 2 SEC games every Saturday. I just cannot wrap my head around the fact that a mf'ing REPEAT of CSI pulls a higher ratings draw & ad revenue than a primetime SEC kickoff. especially with a solid afternoon SEC game & post game show lead in

Then during contract negotiations, maybe Alleva should do his damn job and lobby for LSU to get night games

Dude is only pulling $775K a year, what do you expect from him?

If you are a "Tiger fan", you already knew all this.

Joe should have addressed his letter to "Not a Tiger Fan"

And this "1 SEC homegame" is retarded. Mainly because this is the 1st I've ever heard of it. But sure as night follows day, if the they had made Kentucky a night game this year, you crybaby counts would be moving the goalposts to "1 'good' SEC night home game a year."

Because there are weekends like this:

Kentucky at Georgia
LSU at Ole Miss
Mississippi St. at Arkansas
Vanderbilt at Tennessee
Furman at Florida
Georgia Southern at Alabama
Samford at Auburn
Citadel at South Carolina

Remember when they use to post our record in the daytime and our record at night. TV never showed the records of the teams we were playing during the day vs. night.

I never could understand the argument we were better at night. We just played the worse teams on our schedule at night. Alleva should have just ignored it, but I am sure he was itching to send something out b/c we haven't heard from him yet this year.

The only way a "clause" in the contract would work is that every SEC team would have the ability to "veto" 1 schedule move a year. Then when CBS came calling for Auburn, we veto that and let ESPN take over.

This would work IMO, just like the veto clause about having more than 1 game at the 11:30 slot. Once you're team has played a 2:30 slot on CBS, the school should then have the option to veto any secondary calls by CBS if it deems fit, causing ESPN to pick up the game for the evening time slots.
