A Change Of Heart On Coach Miles

I admit... in the past, I've not been a fan of Coach Miles. Ok, no one needs to get sarcastic on me and say, "Are you kidding? From your past posts, I always thought you loved Coach Miles!" (sarcasm)
No, I haven't. I admit it. But, I've had a change of heart.
Les Miles is a good man and a good football coach. Is he the best in the business? Probably not. But he is good. He recruits well... he's done good of hiring staff and his team is competitive.
Now, is he a Coach that's going to win several National Championships? Probably not. Just based on the past, there's going to be one game a year that for whatever reason, the Tigers don't seem to show up. That could happen against Arkansas, Ole Miss or A & M.
No, Coach Miles is not the detail-oriented, stay-focused for sixty minutes, go ballistic-on-the-sidelines type of Coach. And, I will be honest, if you have to pick one coach to win one game, he may not be your man. But if you want a Coach who recruits well, seems to abide by the rules and represents his University Les Miles is a good one.
Last week, I read another story of how Les Miles reached out to a kid with a terrible disease. He does that kind of thing a lot. I'm pretty sure he does it many times that the media isn't aware of. So, Miles is a good man.
But, someone will say ,"It ain't about being a good man... it's about winning." I hear you and, if you look at his record he has won and continues to win.
Yes, his teams seem to play down to the competition... drives me crazy but, normally they win.
No, he hasn't beaten Bama much. Again, drives me crazy but, how many other teams beat Bama? Nope, there aren't many.
He probably will not write a book on "How To Manage Time In A Football Game," but he's still a good man.
You could say, "Well, it's easy to write this post since we are 7-0." I understand and I much prefer being 7-0 over say.... 5-2."
Coach Les Miles is a good man and a good Coach. I regret the stuff I've posted in the past about him. I don't know if we will beat Bama or not but, we've lost the last two years and the world has continued to turn. I think it will this time too.

It was a lot of backhanded compliments and confessions of not having confidence in Les Miles despite the fact that he wins games.

If you watch as much college FB as I do, you would come to realize when it is all said and done, he is a damn great football coach and a greater man.

He's the best coach in the conference not named Nick Saban.

This. Dude, you basically said all the reasons why you hate him and tried to cover up your hatred with flowery words.

it's too soon to know at this point, I may have another hole in the sheet rock from throwing a shoe during the Ole Miss game in a few weeks, but you have to respect Miles and the staff for the way they've rebuilt the roster after NFL defections and how they've brought Harris and the offense along this season.
