What was Matt Mauck's completion percentage?

What was Matt Flynn's?

Ok either one of those will do.

All I know is I hope Harris doesn't throw as many INTs as the great game manager Mauck did in 2003.

It only hurt him once (Florida).

I'll take that.

We should and really need to be able to switch to a passing team when needed. Maybe more like a west coast offense type of team. To dink and dunk enough to move the defense and get them thinking and then start mixing it up on them. It would be so much more effective imo. LSU will have to have a competitive passing offense to win the ship or even get there unless really really lucky and I don't want to count on luck. Something is going to have to change in order for LSU to take our top spot back. I still believe we will be the team to take bama down, I just don't know how long it will take?? We'll see it's up to our coaches and how effective our offense can be in November or all year. GT

Eh... Let's not pretend our defense didn't bail him out in a few big games, including Ole Miss and OU.

Again, if Brandon Harris performs at the same level of Mauck, I'll take it.

Not only do we need a 68% completion rate, we need a steady dose of 180 - 220 yards of passing from him. The lower the yards then the higher the percentage completion rate needs to be and vice versa. It's called balance retards. And I blame Cam and Miles if it doesn't happen. Mauck and Flynn had lower % but Jimbo and Crowton had them tossing the ball all over the field for more yardage so think with a little more sophistication. Some of you are such disappointments to your parents. It's amazing you beat out several million other poorly swimming sperm to your mothers misshapen egg.

You're the one that pulled a completion percentage out of your arse. Now you're pulling a yardage number out of the same orifice.

It is your esteemed opinion that all LSU needs in order to be successful is for Harris to complete 2.5 more passes per game.

60% with 220 yards per game with an overall 3/1 TD/INT will get this team to Atlanta.
68% would land him on the All American team.

Yep. Harris could be a very effective QB but is constrained (as is the whole offense) by simplicity and predictability.

The issue is most exposed against quality competition (November) where the passing game needs to help carry the team and it can't. It's not the talent, it's the system.

Agreed, but i just dont know if 220 is going to happen, which would put him at 3100 for the year. I would be perfectly content with 200ypg, as long as we get that or more in the big games.

If Harris completes nearly 70% of his passes, he will be in New York with LF.

Effective is more like 62% to 64%
But throwing for 40yards every time will not get you a very good percentage which is why we need more short yardage high completion passes in the game plan. We need more motion in the offense also. Even if it's for show we need to be more creative. More new school with the old school. We have the athletes at WR and TE so let's use it. I wouldn't mind seeing the first drive score TDs more often then not. With LF we have a huge advantage in the run game and if you have a dominate run game like we do we should have a dominate pass game to go with it. One goes with the other or should anyway. GT

Get your playmakers in position to get the football, get them the ball, let them do what they naturally do.

I hope you are correct! If he does, it means we may just run the table and win the SEC, and into the 4- team playoff.

But the bottom line is their first-year starting QBs have played quite well.

And in all but one of those cases, they were upperclassmen....many seniors or redshirt seniors. Our upperclassmen tend to fair pretty well too.
