It’s a shame that there’s so little decent quality video of Pete at LSU.

Remember the night well, horrible rainy night in Nola, my dad and I attended by the time we got inside we were drenched. I remember listening to the radio on the way to the game and they were talking about how difficult it was going to be for Pete, facing Walt Frazier and Earl Monroe, needless to say The “Pistol” was up for the challenge. What a ball player.

My girlfriend and I had planned to go to the game with her friends, but we backed out at the last minute. Can't remember why. We met them in the Quarter later. I asked about the game and couldn't believe Pete had gone for that many and I missed it. Never saw him play in person again.

Wonder what he would have scored with the 3 point line?

He may have had 71 if there was a 3 point line in that game.

Frazier held Pete to something like 20 their first game and bad shooting,. He made a comment to Pete about welcoming him to the league. After that Pete owned him.

Keep in mind that Clyde was an all time great defender. Like top 10 of all time.

neither of those charges are called in today’s game.
That sucked.
I bet it is closer to 75.

Agree, put it this way in Kobe’s 81 pt game he had 3 more attempts, and made 7 3’s. Kobe isn’t in the same stratosphere as Pete when it came to long range shooting. I believe with a 3 pt line and if he wouldn’t have fouled out it would have been in the 80 pt range.

I miss the days when he and his white (stained almost gray from not being washed) floppy socks graced the Cow Palace. I wish I could have seen them all.

We had some great games against powerhouses Tennessee with Tom Boerwinkle and Florida lead by Neal Walk.

You are so right!! Ticky tack offensive fouls. Today's game, no way that gets called! He was just a scoring machine. I saw him hit 40+ in N.O. for the Jazz and it was the only time I got to see him play. He was always my BB hero growing up. Got a bit teary-eyed watching this video.

Was teen when Pete went through LSU. Listen to or watched on tv every game he played at LSU, only got see him play once at LSU, he scored 50 plus on Tulane, lots long range shots that would have been 3’s today. His passing the ball in person was mind blowing. Moved to California after high school saw him in San Diego when Utah Jazz wanted to get rid of him, they stopped playing him. But they could not stop his pre game warm up routine which was a crowd pleaser, the local sports wrote the next day about it, how it was shameful what the Utah Jazz were doing to him.

I agree with 75 at the top end. To get to 80, 12 of the shots Pistol took in that game would have had to be from three point range. Since the inception of the 3 point line in 79-80, it took until 2003 for someone to make 12 3s in one game...ironically enough, it was Kobe Bryant.
