So many great memories. The few years the Jazz has Pete & Gail Goodrich were something special. You could head to the Superdome 15 minutes before the game & sit courtside for $ 7.50.
RIP Pete.

Pistol Pete was the greatest ever!

And to think he accomplished his heroics with a heart defect that remained undetected til his early tragic death. RIP Pete.

It is a shame there is so little talk about pete being one of the greats of all time. I guess mj and lebron is all people will remember. But in my book pete was the greatest baskeball player of all time

I played a few pickup games with him in St. Croix years ago, didn't quite have the success as Pete though

I was there with a couple of friends! The tickets were so cheap back then and what we always did was get the nosebleed tickets and then go to lower deck looking for half court seats after the 1st quarter.

I remember going to “Shoe Town” and getting those $1.00 nosebleed tickets and moving on down! Good times

I was in attendance that night. I have few “I was there” sports moments. This happens to be one.

GOAT

I own a sanctioned copy of that game on DVD including interviews with people around the Jazz at that time, IIRC 2 of the fouls (including the one he fouled out on) were complete bullshite and I think called as a way to invoke the mercy rule as the Jazz were blowing the Knicks out, Pistol was unstoppable that night and season and should've scored 70 easily, we were robbed the most unstoppable offensive force in basketball history

I agree with 75 at the top end. To get to 80, 12 of the shots Pistol took in that game would have had to be from three point range. Since the inception of the 3 point line in 79-80, it took until 2003 for someone to make 12 3s in one game...ironically enough, it was Kobe Bryant.
both of the charges the defender was inside the circle. Neither were set. There is 4 points automatically at the line.

It’s a shame that there’s so little decent quality video of Pete at LSU.
Ive seen a video of him giving the double bird to Bama fans as he walked out the stadium. ‘‘Twas epic but I can’t findnit anywhere now.
