That’s F’n awesome!! Looking forward to it and another run at a championship.

How long into the season before the rant starts calling for Jay Johnson to be fired because he’s not up to their travel ball coaching standards? Bookmark it! It will happen at some point from one of the many losers around here.

One thing notable about Jones's K's is a lot of the time he's not making any contact, few fouls, just whiffs.

I wish we had access to the numbers on swing and miss in the zone vs out of the zone. It could be pitch selection. But if he's missing on stuff inside the zone at a high rate, that's more concerning.

Also, bigger guys just take longer to develop. He's very far from a finished product, but is farther along than a lot of guys at his experience level.

Larson can move into a corner outfield spot.

I haven't heard positive things about Larson. He has the raw talent but I think he is farther away than we (as fans) initially believed. I've heard the same about Milam.

I’d like to see Jake brown developed as the dangerous lefty he is instead of developing as an OF. Doing both ALA Guidry doesn’t really let you master one or the other.

It works for some people. And when you recruit a kid like Brown maybe he dreams of being THAT guy. You have to let him try, otherwise he would never sign with you. Plus, who knows? Maybe he is that guy.

Larson (& all LH) are at a disadvantage facing LSU’s staff due to all the strong LHP. But him being a freshmen, especially.

That said he has done just fine. He’s much more physical than most of the freshmen. Tied for team lead in HR this fall. Will fare much better in more favorable situations vs RHP

Agree 100% and started to type something up along those lines and got side tracked.

Wasn't sure if he said that based on something he was told as far as attitude or work ethic or just looking into fall stats.

I have a source that works with the baseball team in some capacity (I will refrain from giving more detail for his/her benefit).

What I was told is that Larson has raw talent but is dumb as a brick and that will keep him off the field this year.

I was told that He/She would be shocked if Milam ever plays for LSU.

This same source told me that Pearson was playing 2B and Brown was a starting OFer prior to it becoming common knowledge so I trust the info. Yall can take it or leave it, I'm just sharing what I was told.

The last tidbit I received is that Cam Johnson's biggest issue is between his ears. He's got dominant stuff but he gets in his own head at times.

Have to be patient with talented freshmen. They are competing against 22-23 year Olds. Very few kids are ready to step into that at this level.

I agree, Thats why I stated "This Year" next to Larson. He's definitely a guy with the talent to play at this level.

BUT

I have found that in most instances, if a kid hasn't earned playing time as sophomore then they usually don't make it. Sure there are the Travinski type stories but those are few and far between given that a new crop of players shows up every fall and then you add in transfers. Most kids will transfer to a new destination rather than wait their turn.

Agreed. If I were them I would go somewhere I could play first. Rising pine won't develop them.

I'm skeptical myself. Seems if they were truly the way that person makes it sounds they would have just taken the money in the draft. Both had the opportunity for a decent bonus and to start a pro career.

Didn’t Jay say multiple times, if Milam was a couple inches taller he would be a first round draft pick?

I believe he said that prior to fall but prospect evals aren't fool proof. Guidry was also thought to be a relatively high draft pick as a SS and passed it up to come to college. Thus far in BR its his pitching ability that has shined and his bat has struggled to catch up. Sometimes they just miss.

Its also very possible that the jump up in competition was a lot for Milam but he is able to steady the ship and start to excel.

Again, I have not watched a single at bat all fall, I am just relaying what I was told by someone who is there daily.

Or if he performs well

I still can't believe we are gonna have a 99mph lefty that can give us multiple innings coming out of the pen

that and you still have Herring, coleman and a slew of others returning... the pitching staff is loaded... but they will need it... the bats wont be great this year... not unless the SS comes up big.. binghem isnt bad but not a wrecking crew...
