We need a 3b that can produce runs and is a threat at the plate.

I have wondered too about Diechmann would be best in
the outfield. He is very mediocre at first base, but has
good speed and good arm. He also has made some very good plays catching pop ups which lead me to believe outfield might be his best position.

When was the last time we had a lineup that didn't have at least one freshman as a consistent starter?

All I know is we need one of the freshen to step up on the mound and produce next year!

That's a pretty big over statement.

Well he botched several pitches a game his last couple games,

Yeah and Pap was flawless behind the plate his last few games. Perceptions die hard.

So the outfield will continue to have the worst arms in college baseball? We saw how that played out this year.

Lochridge is definitely starting next year. That's not up for debate either.

Don't overlook Nick Coomes contributing in one way or the other...finished year at LSU Eunice and batted .359, led team in HRs with 13 (3rd all time single season for LSUE), 25 doubles (1st all time single season LSUE and 3rd in nation), 81 RBIs (3rd all time single season LSUE and 7th in nation. Batted cleanup the entire season so you know he didn't get as many good pitches to hit! He did struggle a bit at 3rd at times, but that is a relatively new position for him, as he's played catcher the majority of his baseball career. Named today to JUCO All-American team, and was named # 18 top JUCO prospect by Perfect Game!

If I had to guess, either Wofford or Breaux will not be here next fall. Just a hunch. There is too much returning talent combined with an all-star recruit class. Regardless of which one hits the road, I don't think they'll be starting over Watson. I agree with the rest of your lineup, though. If Watson takes LF, Romero takes DH, Lochridge takes 3B, and Coomes takes 1B.

He had 100 less at bats than the rest of the starters.

He looked more lost than anyone though. Dawson right? He was striking out at an alarming rate I believe.. I honestly don't know the stats, but I remember it was something like he had struck out 8 times out 10 at bats.. type of rate.

It's one thing to struggle finding open field while hitting, but it's another to be so lost you are striking out every time up.

Perhaps he just needs time to adjust. He was a true freshman. I hope he bounces back and starts hitting well.

I'm confident Smith from Catholic will start in the middle infield as a freshman (likely shortstop since Robertson likely leaves).

I don't know much about him.. but I have seen much talk about Smith. The guy I am excited to see is Slaughter. Was watching some of his film last night and he looks legit.. especially with power.

Hope they all come.

Seems like LSU recruits a ton of SS.. I guess that's because the SS are usually one of the most athletic players on their teams.. and they can probably play any position.

I really want to see Deichmann in the outfield. I think it's more of a natural fit for him.. even at the next level. We shall see though. I don't know much about his arm, but just observing him whip it around the infield and looking at his size.. seems like he would have a good arm.. especially by our recent outfield standards. And he's athletic/fast. He just doesn't seem comfortable with infield fielding.. especially hard hit ground balls.

As sad as I am to say it, the Jordan Twins became offensive liabilities as the season progressed and pitchers figured them out. Pitch them away and they can't reach the damn ball.

Well that and by pitching them away takes away another big asset they bring and that was HPB. How will not getting all the HBP affect their OBP is what I am wondering..

It's truly an interesting debate.. and it actually finally caught up to us.. especially this season..

I believe CPM values covering range and preventing more hits more than the limited opportunities of throwing out a runner. I have actually been okay with it.. especially when we had Stevenson and Laird making highlight reel catches just about every single game.. I believe the speed saved/prevented more runs.. than having a big arm out there..

However lack of arm strength out there this post-season definitely did not help. I also think this is why I kind of like to see Deichmann at a corner outfield position. I believe he is a good balance of speed (because he's still fast) and he seems to possess a good arm.. but again I don't know this for fact.

I like to see us have balance in the outfield
