First off that's awesome

I noticed you have some old programs. About a month ago I found a huge box full of LSU programs in my grandparent's attic dating back to the late 50s and early 60s.
Those things are so cool to browse through and compare the differences from then and now.

The one with Matherne ... my husband is named after him. I found a black/white photo of the 1959 team on Ebay and he was gracious enough to accept it by mail, autograph it for me and mailed it back (I'd sent prepaid postage). Looks very similar to this one.

My gosh sir, you do have a collection! I've seen much of what you have at one time or another, even the baby bengals program; forgot all about that.

All of these programs you have and reading the players, I saw all of them in action at one time or another. Thanks for refreshing all of my memories. I'm going to forward this thread to my son so he can see all of this "real deal" from his dad's era!

Very much appreciated. Glad this could bring back some memories. I know it wouldn't be the same as having the item itself, however, let me know and I can scan a few of the "Baby Bengal's programs and email them to you. You and your son could then print them out and frame them or have them autographed.

Nice. What items do you have?

The 1935 championship banner that hung in the Andonie museum. Pics of the 1935 team (team photo and photo with trophy). Sparky Wade autograph. Old Spalding guides from 1934-1936. Old Gumbo yearbook that talks about the 1935 team. And I can't remember what else.

Very nice. Ive seen that photo and banner before. I have a copy of that photo somewhere. The Sparky Wade auto is pretty cool. Don't see them come up too often. Post a pic if you get a chance.

It's Buddy Blair's autograph. I have no idea why I typed Sparky Wade. I guess it was just on my mind. I also have the referee whistle that one of the former players used when he refereed in what is now the SEC. I think that's a pretty cool old piece.

olegreg et. al. what about Cuba game, I have seen a few photos but anyone know of any other material from the game itself? Also, what is oldest LSU program (seen 1919) that anyone has seen. Ivy league programs are on ebay back to 1890's, not sure when LSU started having them...Also, oldest ticket stub I have seen was 1922, anyone see any older? Thanks, great stuff!

Ole Greg,
My dad passed away last year and my mom gave me a few of his old things. In one box were some old LSU football programs. I'm sure the one for the game when Billy Cannon made his run-back against Ole Miss is in there, and I believe that the entire set of programs for the 1959 season may all be there along with some from other seasons.

My dad was there for the 1959 Ole Miss game. He had season tickets even before I was born. I have them now and sit in the same seat as he did. Your old stuff sure brings back memories. Thanks for sharing.

Do you have an idea of how valuable the entire set of programs for the 1959 season would be?

I'm not saying I don't believe you, but how the hell is this even possible? I would have been FURIOUS if I were him

Most of these guys love it when someone realizes who they are and are more than willing to share stories. I have been invited to many of their homes over the years and had quite a fair share of 1 on 1 story telling sessions.

Would make for a good book... Give these guys a chance to have their memories immortalized

Center: Some may have seen my unused 1959 LSU vs Ole Miss ticket which is 1 of only 2 known to exist unused. Also signed by Cannon. How many here were actually (truthfully) present at the 1959 Ole Miss game?

$2.50......wow

The Halloween program regularily goes on ebay for 400-700 (condition matters) while the rest of 59 would be 40-75 each, however Sugar Bowl loss to UM from 1960 is pretty rare, maybe 200-300...

Your collection is pretty awesome. I'm 30, and over the last couple years have just started collecting items. I have a Jacob Hester signed football, a painting of the Tiger eyes, and a few magazines from the 03 championship year(SI cover and a couple other random mags). I also have a purple #7 jersey I am looking to get LF to sign, just have to decide when.

I'm not sure I'll be as serious as you are with it, but you do have some pretty cool stuff..
