Can't blame the big guy (Robinson) for lowering the %. He's got a nice touch from the line. For as much as he will shoot, Blakeney has got to step it up in the FT department.

Robinson is shooting 86% from the FT line!

" second chances at the rim"

Biggest weakness shown so far. Last game, Kennesaw was in the 20's, while we were at single digits. BLOCK OUT PRACTICE PLEASE!

The dude is 7'1" but he has to be skinny as all get out. ER3 will probably be able to out power him.

I love his hook shot. Simple, compact, and quick. his touch is fantastic at the rim and at the FT line for a 7'er. Still some work to do, but I see him improving and being a big asset this year and moving forward the next two years.

He is already doing shooting drills for sure. Saw video of him doing that early last week.

It's strange because it's been a big secret what the surgery was for. I'm just glad he's been able to at least get a ton of shots up while he's been out.

What role do you see Victor making? Who loses minutes when he comes back?

Also, what's our best 5 for scoring and our best 5 for defense once Hornsby and Victor are back?

Not sure how accurate it is, but Randy Rosetta said last week that the surgery was for a sports hernia...

quote:

Ready or not, the three freshmen will get their chance to add experience to their resumes – especially in the first month of the season with senior Keith Hornsby out of action as he recuperates from sports hernia surgery.

Here's the article

Play the 4 and 5

Malone and Bridgewater

It seems right now we are comfortable getting 15 to 20 minutes from ER III.

Malone and Bridgewater are averaging about 10 minutes each. I suspect Victor will take up about 20 minutes and those 2 will play very sparingly.

Honestly the CJJ corporation has this program on fire rn.

Next years roster should be able to withstand the mass exodus from this years team.

Our best lineups will all be based off scenario's and matchups IMO.

Elbert may not be the best to have in the game defensively if we are full court pressing, but if the opposing team has a 270lb guy with post moves, he may be necessary.

I think Victor comes in and splits a lot of time with Elbert and Epps. The losers in the situation is Bridge and Darcy. We may even see more sets with Simmons playing more perimeter. With Hornsby coming back IDK who will lose out on minutes. I'd assume a little bit from everyone. We may not have anyone average 30 minutes this year. Basically just play the hot hand.

We will be so deep come December. I'm anxious to see how Jones does it.

Next year's team will be significantly worse than this year and that's been pretty much set in stone with the recruiting class we just signed and departures we're having. This is the year for JJ to make a serious run. He wont have Hornsby, Gray, Simmons, Blakeney or probably Quarterman next season.

It's going to be tough to even determine who starts next year, it just wont be the same as this year, especially from a quality depth standpoint.

Well, that's fairly obvious

But you're returning Patterson, Victor, Epps, Elbert, Sampson and you're bringing in some quality program guys. JP has proven he can be a solid player, and Sampson is going to be a special special player. Elbert has made a tremendous stride and if he continues it will be great, and Victor has lots of skill. No, we won't be a national contending team, but I think we play hard and we have a shot as a bubble team or NIT team. Not to mention, not completely sold on Quarterman going to the draft. He has looked average so far through 2 games and the exhibition. I don't know how he will look better when Hornsby comes back and cuts into some of his minutes.

Mays, imo, is very underrated in his value. I think the Aussie, if he puts weight on, can easily make a decent impact as a substitute. Reath is expected to come in and be a solid contributor, and Jennings should be a solid guard.

No stars (except Sampson may become one), but we could have a long list of key contributors and solid players which will help a lot. I don't look at stars, I look at potential and use to our team. Reath and Jennings are both players that are top 20 Juco players so should be more ready to come in and help.

Jucos are always a mega wildcard. You can strike gold with guys like Lamont Roland, Jabari Smith, Jaime lloreda. Or you can go bust in guys like Thomas Davis and John odo. Hopefully 1/2 will be that impact player.

I get LSU will be significantly worse... when losing your best shooter and best overall player that'll happen.

Is it forgone Tone is one and done?

But I'm confident JP Sampson epps victor and Elberto will perform well enough.

Blakeney is a 1 and done, is an elite scorer and someone will spend a 1st round pick on him come 2016 probably late in (!st round of) draft.

I'm not saying we'll be like 15-15 bad next year but this year's team can be pretty much as good as they want to be. This is the type of team to challenge the UK, Duke & UNC's of basketball this season. Next year's team just wont be able to do that.

Just checking in to thank SOS for his basketball pieces. Without a doubt, my favorite part of the Rant. Much appreciated!
