Though I agree, that's a pipe dream, aka J.J.
One thing about les is he will stick by a player no matter how bad they are,( especiaaly at the qb position) unless of course they smoke aliitle wacky weed.

Comparing Late Mett to Early Mett is interesting, but inconclusive. The results cut both ways.

I'm comparing our O to our opponents' O, which is a more relevant predictor to how many games we'll win in 2013.

But since some are focused more on individual player development here, go back and check the performances against the vaunted defenses of Auburn (65th), Arky (83rd), and Clemson (47th). It's important to live in reality.

Why do people say this shite? We don't need a fricking dual threat QB. The last thing we need is another QB who wastes time learning to run in practice rather than throw the fricking ball. We have 4 bruiser RBs, we need a pocket passing QB. The ONLY problem Mett has is he can't move in the pocket; i.e. step up to avoid pressure or maybe roll out... We don't need scrambles. Sorry bub.

So, you wouldn't want the D to have to prepare for another threat?? Ok.

LSU issues at QB... agree or disagree:

1. Mett is fine at what he does and with more time and an offensive line giving him time to look down field he will be very good.

2. Problem is his WR sucked this year and that hurt him. Problem is his OL got injured and then they couldn't block when the WR finally decided to start catching the catchable ones.

3. With those problems ALL none mobil quarterbacks are going to have a crappy season.

4. If the line stays healthy next season and if they therefore give him time to pass without the pocket collapsing into his face then he is the guy.

5. If not then one of his backups would be more productive. Jennings, Rettig??? Whoever can scramble a little to buy time or even serve as a running qb.... either.

You guys are a fricken joke. Mett has started a total of 13 games as a FBS QB. The expectations by this fan base before the start of the season was un realealistic. Mett is going to be fine and go into the NFL after his senior season. Mett will have an much improved senior season now that he understands the speed of the game and preperation for the game at this level. We could have a JFF, Robert Griffen etc.... type qb play and the first time that QB under performs LSU FANBASE will throw him under the buss. OPs like you are a bunch of little bitches who probably have higher expectation on the LSU program that you set for yourself. Prior to the Bama game we saw on this board that Mett was mediocre, Bama game and following, this board returned to him as the Messiah. Last few games back to normal and this board throwing him under the buss. Chicken and those guys should start banning people like you for the ignorance that you guys bring to this board.

This.

This offense needs to be judged as a unit.

People want to throw out injuries to the OL to protect the coaches, but don't want to use it as a valid excuse why the QB may have struggled.

Texas aTm has three definite NFL high drafted OL upperclassmen playing. How many definite NFL OL is LSU playing with right now? Collins but he's a RSFr who makes mistakes Bc he's young.

And I'm sorry, but our WR/TE core is average at best. It's like people still think we got dewayne Bowes, devery Henderson, and early doucets out there running routes. All of this will factor in the offense.

When you have average weapons you need a little more imagination and better gameplanning to field a good offense. And a good bit falls on the players, but not just one player.

So it's Mett's fault the oline can't protect for shite? When he has time, he's a good QB. How about addressing the real problem? You know, like Miles who is suppose to be an oline mastermind and Stud who has never had a great line at LSU...

LSU's offense needs a dual-threat qb or at least, just a qb that can actually run for 4 - 5 yds or scramble.

LSU needs an O-Line coach and OC. OC needs to understand it isn't against the law to utilize the TE's and RB's in the passing game.Mett isn't the problem, coaching is the problem or lack thereof.

I agree we need a mobile QB. The teams that won big in each bowl game had a mobile QB. Yes they had good OL too. Mett has feet of concrete. A mobile QB can help a line that is less than great. Mett might as well change has number to I WILL NOT RUN! He really does not have to since they already know it. If he can not run and can not throw it away when the protection starts to fail then we will fail. If he could have returned to play at GA he would be on the pine behind Murry.

just joined-up... so, WPBTiger, did you start with 100 posts already or what?

mett poses NO THREAT... NONE to running the ball if the pocket breaks down. that gives opposing defenses a LOT of flexibility.

mett really doesn't need to be a dual threat qb. he just happens to be A ONE-DIMENSIONAL, 1950'S POCKET (and that's it) qb.

Mett doesn't need to be JFF, or even a running threat at all. What he needs is to improve his pocket awareness. If they focus on throwing blitzes at him over and over in the offseason (without even requiring him to complete the play at first) and having him move in the pocket, then he'll develop a feel for the pressure.

Also, like someone above said, the receiving corps was average at best. Mett would have had a much higher percentage if the WRs wouldn't have dropped so many well-thrown balls earlier into the year. With the WR and ATH prospects we have coming in next season our passing game should be much improved.

If Mett develops a decent sense in the pocket, and works on his deep ball, then he should look much better next year.

I'll bet my bank account. As Bugs Bunny would say, "what a maroon"! Is Peyton Manning a run threat? How about Eli? Seen Drew tuck it and run a lot? The offensive line is the problem, not the quarterback.

The same coach is our O-Line coach and OC.He has never been a very good O-Line coach much less OC.Any coach who would play T-Bob at center over Lonergan needs to be fired.I just wish Stud the yes man would have left with Crowton.
