I was at that game at Auburn sitting in the lower bowl LSU section
I was there too on the 2nd row. It was my birthday. One of our idiot fans threw a water bottle and hit Auburn's eagle mascot square in the head. It was flailing around upside down while the handler was trying to get it under control.
That game was awful. It seemed like every positive play was negated and every penalty was ignored against us

At that point in the season, Auburn was supposed to be the SEC's best hope for a National Title, so the SEC offices wanted to make sure they didn't get tripped up by that pesky LSU. Ironically, LSU was the stronger team and could have won the title were it not for the cheating to help Auburn.
... Of course, I make these bold statements with no first hand knowledge... but there was no other possible explanation for that officiating.

This photo made rounds after that game. The no call pass interference with Ray Charles as a ref.

The Hester call was the worst that day. He makes the catch, takes a couple of steps and fumbles it out of bounds. It would have been a first down but they review it and overturn the correct call which was made on the field and say it was incomplete. That is when I lost my shite.

refgate video is no longer on youtube.

Yes this was the worst officiated game I've ever seen in any sport. No doubt in my mind it was rigged. It simply had to be. SEC refs often screw up, but never to this extant and never favoring only one team. Every big LSU gain was negated. I was irked at the conservative play calling, but then again the refs wouldn't allow LSU to do anything on offense anyway.

ball was tipped so DPI was waved off. what shoulda happened was D holding as early was basically tackled.

That game still makes me mad, the fricking from the refs and our stupid offensive game plan. We should have been four wide all game.
The 06 team was so good and it was robbed

my close relative died that day preparing for game. I fricking hate Auburn. One of the worst days of my life, 9-16-06

No doubt, I cannot recall any other game where there so many blown calls, all going against LSU.
Since the Tigers only lost by 4, all those missed calls that have been cited over the years since that game certainly cost LSU that game.

No, it's still PI as the ball is already thrown and the tip occurs after the PI
Just like what was called on LSU when we picked the ball off

From The Advocate in 2006... The crew who called the LSU-Auburn game included referee Jeff Roberson, umpire Rick Lowe, linesman Gary Jayroe, line judge Mickey Haddock, field judge Dan Moore, side judge Matt Moore, back judge Mike New and replay official Bob Patrick.
Hopefully all of these guys are retired...

Called a pass interference on us early in game on same situation they didn't call at end of game
The difference between the two calls was we actually intercepted the pass and they called interference behind the interception. I screamed about that game in my sleep for years I was so angry. Obvious refs were bought off or bet on game.

It was more than that.
After the game there was a thread and it was 10 or 12. Multiple late hits out of bounds, a forced fumble that wasn't given to us, a bogus holding, two or three PIs that weren't called...
People bashing Miles in this thread should lay off. Every big play the offense made or could have made that day was either taken away, or not allowed bc AU got away with something illegal.
Saban couldn't win rigged games here (see AU 2004, for one), so don't bash Miles for not being able to win a rigged game!

Steve Shaw I believe was the head ref in both the 2004 and 2006 games. gump asshat.

was that the interference on Doucet at the end of the game or the Hester first down/non-fumble game?
3 of the worst calls in college football history occurred on this calendar day. 2 that you mention here and then later in the day, OU clearly recovered an onside kick at Oregon, that was reviewed, only to have the ball awarded to the Ducks setting up a game winning drive.
