Harris just rifles everything. He has to learn to put some touch on the ball.

Sometimes he throws it too hard, but that one to Dural in the red zone was easy to catch and he just flat-out dropped it with no one around him.

This is one of the reasons LSU is an NFL factory. We recruit quality athletes and prepare them for the pro game with only 20hrs a week of practice time
i don't disagree but i think we're seeing that a super complex offense may not be ideal for college
it prepares our WRs (more than any other position) for the NFL but the actual collegiate results are mediocre at best UNLESS everything falls into place (5th year super QB, 2 NFL ready WRs, a NFL ready RB, etc)
and this isn't even an "NFL" offense, with all of our i-form reliance, fwiw. the pro game is dominated by single back
it's "pro style" from like the 90s or early 00s, before more spread concepts and ace took over
the whole single back v. i-form displays the issues with this offense. with ace, you can run 2 TEs or 3 WRs and still run everything. your added benefit is beign able to spread a defense laterally to give more receiving lanes and easier passes PLUS more combo routes. with a FB, you're almost taking 1 guy out of the game except for a limited role on runs
LSU runs a FB and a TE who is a glorified OL in our base set, so we're going up against a D 11 on 8 when they're in. that's not going to open things up for our passing game and in reality it restricts our offense greatly (before you even get to our limited route tree and refusal to throw over the middle)

Tell me your thoughts on how this may hurt our defensive preparation.

No question that these things happen when kids KNOW they are playing no matter what!

It was plain and day they were trying to use this game to tune up our passing attack. We came out on fire and then all of a sudden the WRs couldn't catch a damn single ball. We kept trying to force throws and none of them worked. It got to the point where drives stalled out because of it and we were in a damn 8 point game with Eastern Michigan heading into the 4th quarter.
So frankly I'm fine with the coaches from this game. Theyve finally done what everyone wanted and came out gun slinging trying to improve passing. When it doesn't work out like everyone thought because our WRs have stone hands, then it's all of a sudden the coaches fault again.
the most accurate post tonight.
