About a month and a half ago, I was in the student union on my break between classes and my GA position. I remember two coaches (one black, one white, both heavy set in LSU polos, who I did not recognize at the time) escorting what looked to be a basketball recruit around the union. I thought to myself, he must be a basketball recruit, but disregarded it as I doubted that players would be visiting during a coaching transition. From what I can recall, he had on a black hat, red t-shirt, and some sagging basketball shorts. He definitely looked every bit of 6'7+.

Coleman visited when Trent was still the head coach. Assistant coach Brent Scott hosted him for the weekend and showed him around so it was def not during the transition. It was def before Johnson left.

if we get odoh then he will play the 5 and JOB the 4 and pollard/coleman at the 3. Hammink can def play the point and backup hickey at that spot. We would be 2 deep at every position except center if we can land Odoh or Trocha.

SEC Western Division Champs! You've got to believe, man! Anything is possible with the Bullet!

Evan Daniels of Scout now reporting on premium board that Pollard likes LSU and may have visited.
Also, this bit of non news tonight from Jackson Clarion Ledger:

@rwalker1906: Talked to Devonta Pollard briefly at the PopStars Awards at the Mississippi Hall of Fame a minute ago. He said there's no news.

Just speculation, but it might be VERY late in the game before we know anything about Pollard. He's smack-dab between Starkville and Tuscaloosa and I imagine he might get some pressure from those two places.
Seems like you might want to drop the "I'm going to LSU" bomb right before you hop in your ride on the way to Baton Rouge.

I thought you brought up the Pollard speculation. Don't backtrack now!

I didn't start this thread.
I'm just saying the LSU coaches thinking/knowing he's coming and that info filtering out to the public won't necessarily happen on the same day. They might sit on that deal for a while. It's not like there are any signing deadlines anymore or anything - if the kid has the grades or whatever to enroll in summer school he might do it soon, or maybe it'll happen in July or something and the coaches will have known about it for six weeks.
But what's being thrown around on that campus right now is that they think they're getting Odoh and Pollard. Odoh is obvious; the way it was explained to me on Pollard is "Dude, why do you think they hired Kirby?" And if Georgetown, which is where he was going when Kirby was there, and Missouri are out of the mix and it's down to LSU, Mississippi State and Alabama, it's not like this is an especially difficult possibility to see happen.
Hell, Pollard had LSU on his initial list a year ago. I know how hard it is to believe that Trent couldn't hold his interest in this place, but it's not like this program isn't capable of pulling quality players from Mississippi.

If he doesn't sign today, which he could've and held the release, this could drag on until August, unless he enrolls in summer school.
I have a friend in Gulfport and he told me tonight that Johnny supposedly backed out of the Tiger Tour tour tomorrow in Biloxi for an urgent recruiting trip.

I don't know. There is a dead period starting tomorrow, but I believe schools can host visits. Maybe Odoh or Pollard are taking official visits.
Rephrase: my friend said "Recruiting matter" not "trip."

urgent recruiting trip.

I think Odoh is a done deal but I have ZERO resources to back that up. Just my own intuition and reading between the lines.
Pollard, I dunno. I think State was the leader till Stans was fired. Then I think G-town with their great tradition AND Kirby was tied with Alabama because I think Grant is a good recruiter... but Kirby at LSU and not far from home... who knows?
