It may or may not mean anything. They could be really not considering LSU at this point, which is likely. Or she could not want to open up a can of worms by publicly throwing an extra school out there.

I tend to think we are out of it, if we were ever even in it to begin with.

except they don't have to sign anything, they can just enroll somewhere. The signing is usually to get other coaches to stop bothering them

Major rumblings and rumors that LSU is in thick with Pollard and he has visited campus on the downlow more than once.

He supposedly is on an out-of-town field trip with his school through tomorrow, which would mean he's not signing by today unless he already signed and is holding the release. Hopefully this doesn't take until August to resolve itself.

If Jones pulls Pollard this late, Calipari might have some competition over the next few years. Jones is a monster recruiter if he pulls this off.

seriously... I know Pollard wants to play SF but would he kinda be forced to go to the 4?

Hickey
Morgan
Coleman
Pollard
O'Bryant

Stringer, Hammink, Isaac, Courtney, Godfrey, Ludwig

We may just end up playing like Mizzou this year.

I think he can play both, and will play both wherever he goes. You just have to get your best players on the floor, regardless of position. I don't think he's got the outside shot to be a true wing at this point, but eventually he will need to play there. He's definitely an NBA wing, but will play a lot of PF in college.

Man that would be sweet. Regardless, still awesome we're in the running.

For fun, let's say we land him:

Hickey
Coleman
Pollard
O'Bryant
Godfrey

Even if he wants to play 4, we could just as easily run 3 guys in and out of the line-up with a combo of Pollard, O'Bryant, and Godfrey. Hickey isn't losing his spot, but at times, it would be crazy to give Hickey a rest and possibly have Shane at 1, with those guys. Not guy under 6'5" on the court.

Is Suga fast enough to guard a 2?

I personally would put the biggest talents on the team where they fit naturally, and let the other guys play a little out of position. Just throwing this out there but

1 Hickey
2 Hammink
3 Pollard
4 Godfrey
5 O'bryant

would actually be a pretty big line up. Our size at the 2 and 3 would more then make up for the 4 and 5. Not saying that Hammink will beat out Morgan, but I do think he has a shot at it.

I think you would certainly be giving something up as far as speed, but he's a pretty athletic guy from what I've seen of his videos and I still don't think he's really 6'6". Not that it's a bad thing. I just think it provides us with some versatility and I love the athleticism alone.

Did he play exclusively 3 at CC?

This is the first time in forever our bench actually looks SEC quality.

I really don't know much about Pollard, but your assessment reminds me of my boy Ronald Dupree. I really do think playing the 4 exclusively probably hindered his development as a player.

Yeah it really does. To think, our experience in SEC play will be on the bench instead of starting. I'm still not giving up on Stringer though. As I said in another thread, Stringer improved greatly defensively last year, and I think he can flourish in an up-tempo attack. Out of Turner and Stringer, I think losing Turner is the better of the two.

I'm hoping Hammink or one of the other taller guards will develop as a PG to limit how much Stringer handles the ball in half court sets or against zone presses.

From what I've seen, I think Dupree is an excellent comparison to Pollard.
