I hated this hire for the connections to Dale Brown, but it's getting hard to dislike it. These guys are doing work.

He literally did everything right.
He has some of the best recruiters in Louisiana, Dallas/Fort Worth, and Mississippi.
He's gonna get some prospects. We'd make a tourney run with Pollard and Odoh on. But even if these guys don't work out, I could see Johnny recruiting this team to a tourney run in a few years.

as the roster stands now I expect about 7 or 8 SEC wins. adding an Odoh or Pollard would be incredible

I hope you don't get Odoh and our new coach holds onto him. Something is going on through. We don't have any Scholly's to give unless someone leaves, but our new coach just recruited another 3 Star recruited PJ Hardwick, released from Mississippi St. LOI. We're either losing Forrest Robinson 6'10"-hell of an outside shot, but soft inside to USC, or losing Odoh, or losing Chris Jones/Jordan Williams to grades. Hardwick great pickup, but we don't have room on the roster, so something has to give.
I told you the LSU nation would believe in JJ, JoJo, Coach Jones in short order!!! Looks like he's doing his job winning y'all over just as he will with talented recruits.

For him to do what he has so far, I'm thinking LSU will be recruiting about like it does in football in seasons to come. I know how big of a statement that is, but it is hard to believe he has came in so late and made the kind of noise he has in such a short time. I think Calipari is the only coach in the SEC that will out recruit him once he gets a year or two into this job and Cal's kids all go pro after one year. We have reasons to be excited.

Anyone know how TCU recruiting is going? Trent obviously can't be expected to sign anyone decent this late, or next year, or even the year after next, etc.

TCU hired Trent just to get JJ the hell out of town. Recruiting within a 50 mile radius of JJ has been bloody. The only school within the Dallas Metroplex to do any good was UTA. I don't know how UTA did so well either. TCU and SMU had to do something otherwise they were going to suck and maybe still suck for the next decade.
Since TCU hired TJ they're guaranteed to suck for the next 10 yrs. for sure. I have some respect for Larry Brown so I can't write him off yet, but so far his recruits have sucked and he kick of 4 or 5 current players from his SMU squad.

People on SEC recruiting board saying it's down to Bama and Texas and upset Texas is playing the Durant card, which is ironic for non basketball reasons.
