Kinda seems short to play quarterback

I think I read somewhere that some kid named Drew from Purdue was to short to play quarterback too.
Look, I've known this kid since he and my son were in 5th grade and they have been best friends since. This boy can play anywhere in the back field on both sides of the ball, and any receiver position. No matter where he goes, he will be an instant different maker. LSU needs to make sure he doesn't "slip through the cracks".

Having seen him a couple times [only] I agree. He's a natural playmaker with playmaker instincts AND tons of athletic ability.

On the two sport thing...
I've heard that CEO is much more open to 2 sport athletes than the previous coach. I hope that is the case. He can be a contributor on the diamond as well as the gridiron. I've never fully understood the reluctance there anyway. With NCAA limits on workouts/practices more than one sport just gives a school that many more days of "directed workouts". Plus many schools are now using a combined approach that meshes multiple sports, and not just track. It benefits all involved, assuming the student athlete can handle the school workload.

Does the fact that he now has an offer from Alabama change anyone's mind???? A 2nd and 6th round NFL draft pick came from West Monroe this year. Until LSU changes it's mentality on recruiting in North La., we will continue to miss opportunities.

They have. Meatball is doing a great job in North LA. Not only him, but O, Austin, and Joseph have all been outstanding thus far. It's a massive improvement over the old regime.

I'm glad someone "in the know" posted this, because that's sure how it's looking from afar. Seems like Orgeron has spent quite a lot of time glad handing in N. LA.

While I certainly understand and respect JJ's post, proof will be in the pudding. One thing to talk a great game, another one to WIN it.

JJ's there are specific reasons Alabama is so successful up here. They have strategic relationships with spheres of influence in some of these communities. That's why all these kids end up at visiting / committing to Alabama or TCU.

Yep...They WIN...Kids are always going to flock to the winningest programs. When I was in school I wore something with Miami on it at least once a week. It's just the way kids are. As far as TCU, it's because they're here A LOT. They were here last week, as was LSU and 20 other programs. TCU has set up a great relationship with the area and taken kids that LSU passed over in previous years. They were the first ones to offer Slade after his junior season and had been talking to him all throughout the year. LSU obviously wasn't as aggressive in the past, but that has definitely changed since O has taken over. If a kid chooses to go elsewhere, it won't be because LSU wasn't here as was the case previously.

That being said, a kid still has to go to the best fit for him. He can't just blindly choose LSU because it's the home school. Under Miles, I would never want a kid like Slade to choose LSU. It was a terrible fit. Under Canada, the offense might be absolutely perfect for him.

Next high school football season is going to be one of the better ones we have had in quite some time in Louisiana.

I absolutely can't wait for the John Ehret/West Monroe game.

Can't wait to see Slade and that linebacker from Ehret (Starks) go at it. Ehret is building a very good program down there in a competitive district with LW. You don't get better opening games than that up here in our neck of the woods.

Evangel with those 3 recruits we are signing, is loaded and top 10 national next year. They scrimmage against LW this week or next, I'm not quite sure, and will try and get a report on how it went.

In 2 years Louisiana has possibly 4-5 5-star recruits in the state of Louisiana. I'm excited about what Canada, Aranda, and Coach O can build the next 5 years.

First, I'm glad the Miles era has come to an end and I'm looking forward to the Coach O/Aranda/Canada combo to begin.

But, this crap can't slide...

Miles flew to Omaha to support Chad Jones and Jared Mitchell. He fully supported Donte, Bennie Brazell, Trindon, Spencer Ware, and the several other 2-sport athletes during his tenure.

Slade's talent would have been wasted in the previous LSU offense. I think it will be much better suited in Canada's. My hope for him is that he picks the best fit for his set of skills, guys like him that are more APB need to find the right fit to where they can show their complete aresenal and be put in situations where they are in free space/open field.

So you extrapolate being "less open" to something all the way out to me saying CLM doesn't support 2 sport athletes? That he banned them? They were verboten? That's a stretch.

All I said is CEO seems to be more open to it. Say it with me- more. open. to it. MORE, as in as open to it as much as CLM but... more. Because someone is "more" something it doesn't mean zero for the original comparison. I say your extrapolations (and logic) are crap.

I'm hoping, especially in the case of Bolden because it may be key, the 2 sport approach is used as a tool in football recruiting. Which would be MORE than CLM would do.

JJ do you think Slade would be happy as an H-Back at LSU or would he prefer RB at TCU. Please note it is an opinion based question and I am not saying that Slade wouldn't play RB at LSU but Canada's offense makes this a different option for him at LSU.

Talk about extrapolation... bwhahahhahaha.

In 8 games and less than one complete off-season you deem Coach O as MORE open.

Hilarious.

West Monroe High School had 2 players drafted in the NFL draft and neither went to LSU. That is on Les Miles and hopefully will be fixed. No excuse for it, because WM had the most players at LSU from any high school from 1995 to 2011ish and for whatever reason Miles got lazy or just didnt care.
