2006-9th
2007-5th
2008-12th
2009-1st
2010-8th
2011-8th
2012-14th
2013-6th
2014-2nd
2015-5th
2016-1st (currently)

Just for reference for people to see just how good the LSU coaches have been at recruiting recently. The cupboard is, at least on paper, once again loaded. This team was gutted by the draft but now the 2013 class is our juniors, 2014 sophomores, and the 2015 class is our freshman players.

You could argue that, again on paper, LSU is recruiting the best they ever have and will be fielding one of their most talented teams in the Miles Era this year and next.

We are trending towards fielding a 2011 type team. This time Les will get his 2nd natty and 3rd set crown. Then the 3rd natty comes around franks jr or sr season and Les retires locking in his HOF spot.

In all honesty, if LSU gets good QB play, they could very well do that. LSU is built to compete for titles as a program. With recruiting like this they will be just as talented as anyone in the country.

Yep, all we need is a QB and we could make a run for it for 2-3 years...

Please let it happen! One great year at the QB spot and lots of momentum will come LSU's way hell just picking up this new staff has created lots of momentum. I really think coach Steel will have our players playing smarter on D. Disguising plays and being more aware of where they are on the field

Brandon Harris will be very good before his time is over in Baton Rouge. The Tigers will be in the playoffs during his tenure here. Blee dat.

Yup. Cam needs to earn his paycheck this year. It will be very telling to see the progress Harris has made over the summer when he returns for fall camp.

Definitely in looking at that 2009 class, you can see the major impact that it (as well as the others, but especially that one) had on the 2011 season. This class is starting to look on paper like that one did.

LSU definitely should be a player in the playoff system. And truth be told, with improved QB play, the SEC is up for grabs now. All of last year's frontrunners are breaking in new QBs, so there could very well be a 3-4 year stranglehold on the SEC in Baton Rouge.

I agree the 09 class had a huge impact on the 11 season.

If we finish strong this year we will have 4 straight not just good but elite classes.

You have to imagine that LSU will contend with that type of talent.

I'm telling you right now, if we get good QB play out of either of these guys THIS year, not next year, but THIS year, we will own the SEC for the foreseeable future. Think of Jennings or Harris, or both, this year 2800 pass yards 24 TDs 60%+, that automatically will make us a playoff favorite next year (if we don't get in this year with those numbers ).

Hell, even mediocre play last year would have netted us wins against Bama and ND (I know defenses ultimately lost those games, but the QB play wasn't even decent) and we were very green at several positions entering last season. I'd rather Fournette not be wasted with bad QB play. At least one guy has to get his act together.

Agree 100%. If the QB position can develop, LSU will win another national title.

This has prob been the best run ever in the history of the program, as far as recruiting goes. Team was extremely young last year, only lost 3 players early. We really can make a run at it these next 3 years with just marginal improvement from either qb.

CCC's original contract was for 3 years... so does that make THIS year a "contract" year? He would literally have everything on the line for this year. Or has he already signed an extension?

The only concern is the worst class in his tenure will be seniors/RS juniors this season.

Yeah I think luckily he got a few really good players out of that class and the juniors really will be leading this team. The starting QB, HB, WR, DT, MLB, CB, and SS are underclassmen.

Hawkins, Mills, Alexander, etc are some solid seniors on this team.

Where did the OP get his recruiting rankings from? There is more than one site out there. Was it ESPN, Rivals, Scout, or somebody else? Every site has different rankings and nobody knows how good the classes are until they actually get into college and get on to the field. Our 2009,2010, and 2011 classes each produced some major contributors. Especially 2009.

We don't know yet if the 13,14,15, and 16 classes are going to produce a better group of players than those other classes did. I really hope they do, but I'm not going to declare this the best group of players we've had during the Miles Era until I start seeing more wins from the team and more individuals becoming stars throughout each unit of the team. We need to see results before we pass judgment on theses classes. Recruiting rankings are not perfectly accurate.
