How did this happen?
Something happened off the field so Michigan never allowed him to enroll and they released him from his LOI. He was eligible at Oklahoma immediately just like any other true freshman, he wasn't technically a transfer.

You mean asked him to come in August instead of February?
dude had already moved into his dorm and enrolled in school... then the coaching staff asked his parents to pay for spring semester when they had thought for the last four months he'd be on scholarship...
no matter how you spin it, that was a pretty shitty thing to do at the 11th hour.

Also... Miller has a family who posts on this board... may be able to shed some light, fwiw...

Miller never enrolled at LSU or moved into a dorm. If he had, the same rules would apply for him to go to Albarn. Once you enroll the clock starts.

Incorrect

I was under eligibility was based on actually attending classes, not enrollment...
So classes started the next day and wasn't enrolled at LSU?... how was he placed in classes?
I'm not saying you're wrong, but that doesn't make sense.

who has Miles granted a release to another SECW team?
Jones went to Bama but Corley went to Troy, Miles let's kids go wherever they want if they transfer. I actually think this is a very classy thing to do if you really care about the young men that you have coached. It just doesn't work out for some due to alot of factors. I have always thought it was ridiculous that the NCAA let's coaches tell someone where they can to go to school just because it didn't work out at that respective institution.

I understand it - without the current rules in place it opens the door for a lot of tampering/collusion issues. Imagine a turd like Nick Saban coming up to Rasco after the game last year and telling him to get over to Bama and he'll be starting next year.

He would have to sit out next year so Miles could just call him a big fat liar

quote:That wasn't the original agreement. The original agreement was that Miller would have a scholarship when he enrolled early. Then low and behold the #1 QB in America might be interested, and we go back to Miller at the last possible moment and ask him to fork over $10,000+ or delay his enrollment by a semester. It's understandable for a kid or his parents to be offended in that situation, but the decision to up and enroll immediately at Auburn was a bit hasty IMO.
What did he pull? They had limited early enroll numbers, and one had to pay their way for Spring semester, and Miller was the choice due to financial ability. Father didn't like it, and took his kid to AU...Just the way I heard it, what did you hear?

Absolutely correct...if the release is unconditional. That's not just the SEC that's all conferences.

Kiel committed in late Dec, so they had a couple of weeks to work it out. Its my understanding that they asked Miller, becasue his parents can afford it. From a FB perspecitive, giving an EE spot to a freaking long snapper was the stupid move, however, I don't get the rush for Miller. Why does he have to be in school in Jan? Looking at the depth chart, he'd be a good candidate for a RS anyway. That extra spring practise is not gonna be a big deal. Take classes at a community college if you really want to get a jump on getting a degree. As it turns out, if they had just waited, he would have gotten in anyway at LSU.

Interesting point of view. Why did Vadal Alexander (long snappers high school teammate) have to enroll in January? You could say whats the rush for him also. Isn't he a RS candidate? LSU was well aware he was an early enrollee. A mistake happened and LSU lost a recruit they wanted. Kiel and his family also had the money to pay for a semester if he wanted to enroll early. What was Miller suppose to do in the meantime? Wait around and just train when in his mind he graduated early to attend LSU or his respective school of choice? Whether he is a project, raw, or not it was his choice to attend college early and LSU had agreed to that.
