From what I heard about Nola, he will not be eligible to be enrolled at LSU because of grades. That is probably why he is only "verbally" committed and not signed. It takes a 25 ACT to be eligible at LSU.

False.. the avg ACT of last years incoming class at LSU was 24

So that's 20 2012 commitments on a 35 man roster? Two seniors graduating plus a couple underclassmen potentially lost to the draft from the current roster. What gives? How are the numbers going to add up?

there will be a lot of attrition, which is becoming the norm under Mainieri.

Attrition is going to be the norm on a 35-man roster. You'd like to see less, but when an LSU doesn't make a regional it's not unexpected to see a roster purge.

I just hope they get better guys in here as a result of the changes. Coaches AND players.

Y'all had some good Freshmen with a lot of Potential. Will Mainieri really cut a ton of players?

How many of the signees are expected to get drafted high and sign pro?

John Eierman is getting a lot of first round attention right now and Jake Cave has been questionable at best to make it to a campus for a couple years now. I can't really speak to any of the other recruits' chances right now.

I don't think we'll lose any more than 6 or 7 in a worst case scenario.

Finally draft day, I think everyone has done a good job of keeping updated info in the thread.

After the draft we'll have to bump the 2012 thread and start updating it.

2 LSU Pitchers on the Delgado Boosters team destroyed the Jesuit 5A High School State Champs (Retif Oil in the American Legion League) in an exhibition game at Delgado on July 20th.

Brent Bonvillain (Junior Transfer) - 5 complete innings allowed no runs, 2 hits, and struck out 12

Joe Broussard (Returning Sophomore) - 3 complete innings allowed 1 run, 2 hits, and struck out 6

Stone Speer (UNO Junior Transfer) - 1 complete inning allowed no runs, no hits and struck out 2

In total, the current 5A champions where struck out 20 times for the 27 possible outs. Delgado won the game 4-1. Of note, Jesuit batted with non-bbcor aluminum bats and Delgado batted with wooden bats preparing for the AAABA tournament in Pennsylvania next month.
