yeah you just have to look at some of the teams they've beaten. this happens all over too, i remember being in hs in texas and seeing joseph jones play in class A. everyone thought he wouldnt do shite on the ncaa division 1 level but he turned into a very good player for the aggies.

The team played well, was not impressed with him. What does how many his team won by have to do with me not being impressed by him.

I dont really understand this...it really takes one guy and ur in the tourney. We dont have to have all allstar players or even have a marcus thornton... just guys that can actually contribute and help win and derenbecker is certainly one of those guys.

cause they won by 40, you said he only had 4 2nd half points when he barely played in the 4th quarter

and he had 28 personally. So the 24 1st half points didnt impress you???

what would have impressed you?

His uncle coaches my son's AAU team. When I spoke to him about Derenbecker he said that he was super fundamental with good footwork. Knows where all the positions should be on the court for plays.

I guess I was just expecting more, I said earlier that they were not playing a great team, so maybe he knew he didn't really have to step it up too much. He seems very fundamentally sound and he did have a few nice slashes to the hole. I guess I just thought he would be a player with more "wow" factor. I could see him coming in and being a contributor of a few solid minutes but not much else. Again the kid may be a great player, this is my opinion based off of one game.

We need more guys with good basketball IQ. Spencer and Warren have to be at the very bottom of the country in basketball IQ.

Tim Duncan doesn't have any "wow" factor but he's fundamentally strong. Not saying that Derenbecker is in the same playing field as Duncan but relaying the message of fundamentals in BBall. I've never seen the kid play.

I totally agree with you, not every player needs to have "wow" factor. That being said, this kid was the state player of the year last year and I had heard so much about him and I left feeling unimpressed and also asking myself is that kid really the best player in the state? I hope he does great and I wish him the best, and again this was one game.

Saw you choose to bash the kid based on one Fing game. You could have said yeah I saw him play he scored 24 in the first sat most of the second half and finished the game with 28.
I would have like to see more of his games before I make a uninformed comment about him. I'm sure with him being the State player of the year some people with BB IQ think rather highly of him.

That was the scouting report on Ludwig too.. I'm not saying they won't both be good players but expecting Derenbecker to start as a freshman or sophmore is like asking Ludwig to do that right now.. and the way you guys have been trashing on Ludwig makes it seem like you wouldn't like that..

This is the point where I know you are clueless. The scouting report on ludwig and derenbecker are completely different and they are completely different types of players.

Same as Ludwig slow skinny white guy. Both will have good Jr and Sr years. They need 2 years to develop.

True Matt D is a shooter, which LSU needs. Ludwig will be a PF with 2 years of adding weight.
