Why does everyone keep saying this? I've never watched his film so I'm not trolling, I'm truly curious.

I seriously hope it's not because both are shorter, underrated QBs from Louisiana but I feel like that's the case.

Herb was a beast though. I remember I was about 9 or 10 when he first started playing. I think he actually came in for an injured starter, can't remember who though, but those few years he was our QB were some of the greatest memories I have as a young lad.

I saw Herb play several times...he was one tough cookie! He didn't get a lot of help from the OL, but he somehow made things work.He simply forced his will on the offense...he knew when to scramble and when to pass...he had "it"! He passed the ball well enough to get the job done and seldom made bad decisions...he was a winner!

Uh....he had plenty of help on the OL. McClure and Faneca were 2 of the best OL to ever play at LSU. Their long productive NFL careers would support that.

Upsetting Steve Spurrier and the Gators is 1 of the more exciting memories I have as a young LSU fan. Herb Tyler killed them with the option run, Florida players were in shock!

I was there and saw what I saw...two great OLs doesn't get it done...there were always dlmen breaking through the line and chasing HT around...

Jamie Howard got injured in about game 4 or 5 and then Herb replaced an ineffective Melvin Hill and never looked back. Had the nice win over Michigan St. in the I-Bowl. Herb was a good college qb, but was limited in his passing. I hope that if Scott does sign with LSU that he can exceed Herb as a passer. Hopefully he won't be rushed into action as a true freshman the way Tyler was.

Hopefully, he's a much better passer.

Aahhh, what a great memory. I was flying out of BTR with family, can't even remember where, but I remember we got to catch the whole game because of a delay. Best delay ever! I think the captain was a LSU fan and did it on purpose. At least that's what I like to think.

Still my favorite victory that I have ever watched. My lsu fandom was still in its early days due to just starting high school and not growing up in an lsu family. This game more fun than either title game for me.

Loved Herb Tyler and all, but that is probably the most worst comparison of all the comparisons on this board. Lindsey Scott, while a heady leader and a good runner like Herb, but unlike Herb, he is also a very accurate passer and has a fairly strong arm.

He was money on the bootleg comeback to Larry Foster but he wasn't a great thrower. His stats are similar to what Harris did and we know how many fans view Harris.

So would you say he's more similar to Jennings coming out, minus height?

One of my best memories in TS.

Didn't he run a long one in for a TD that night?

I would love if Scott could give us Herb Tyler play. Guy was accurate and made laser quick decisions.
