don't want him because his film sucks nothing to do with color

He has a lot of room for improvement just going off of film. Maybe the coaching staff saw something different, or a high ceiling. Obviously so if he is rated highly on the boards. Just don't see it from the film.

Not all dual threat QBs are JJ, not all pocket passers are JL. Stop overreacting to the results of one class of QBs

His film isn't stellar. Relax, people only go off of what they know. They only know what they see. The thread says he is the number one QB on the board, and Bateman's film is much better.

Unfortunately, every thread that involves a black QB will likely get this treatment for a few years. Too many close-minded idiots on this board

Randall's film was pretty damn good. I think he could be a solid QB down the line. I never bought the "dual threat" definition with JJ. He was recruited as pro style, I believe ....in reality was a running QB who could occasionally throw.

Johnson being #1 on the board came out intitially when he visited in the spring and as far as I know nothing has changed. Since that time only JT Barrett was said to be a take as well as Johnson. Same time and exact day when people were informed Johnson was #1 on the board is when the info about Mitch's offer being noncommitable came out. Basically this info doesn't suprise any of the die hard recruitniks on the board that already knew this to be true.

I don't like Johnson as our qb but do think he is the most naturally gifted of all the qbs on our board. I just don't think he'll ever develop as a passer and he reminds of Jefferson because of his style of play not because of his skin color. I'd feel the same if he reminded me of Jarrett Lee. Lee was fricked in the head also. He bowed under if pressure got close to him. I am more interested in a qb that is a natural passer no matter the color of his skin nor the level of his natural gifts. I just want someone that has a natural feel and idea for the passing game. Johnson does not have that. He has the big arm and size but his passing skills are far from polished or naturally good. Great arm talent doesn't equal success. Kincaide has a natural feel for the passing game but lacks great natural talent and size. I'd take him in a heartbeat over Johnson. Both are black and can run and most on the board would make the same choice. It's not about race, it's about style of play and feel for the game. It also is about Auburn. If they offer now or in January, it's likely that Johnson chooses them. In the scenario that we go all in on Johnson, land his commitment and then Auburn offers late and he bails on us, what good have we done? We'd be fricked and scrambling for a fill in at QB. That's just what we need especially at QB.

To me Bateman is the highest rated qb on our board and the best qb on our board with Mitch and Cody Thomas right behind him. Thomas has the baseball thing so I can understand him not being a priority but Bateman and Mitch have no such issue. I for one do believe we'd take Bateman if he called to commit. I just don't think he is very interested in us. I think we should be going after Riley Ferguson harder as well as the MS kid Ryan Buchanon. Just not Johnson unless he's the 2nd qb in the class.

Based on available film, I would say he is a major project. Could be the coaches see something else, dunno.

I don't like Jeremy Johnson as a prospect because:

- he has a very slow, windmill release

- he has no touch or accuracy; he is indeed a thrower, not a passer; he can chuck the ball 60-70 yards downfield but it will have no touch or accuracy; when he throws middle passes he has to take away power to try and make the throw accurate; his middle passes to the sidelines, with his release and his throwing ability, will be ripe for picks

There is a reason this guy has the offers he has and there are reasons why Alabama doesn't want him and Auburn is thinking really, really hard about wanting him if they can't get someone else.

No thanks.

So many false accusations come from race, they are difficult to take seriously anymore. Sometimes you gotta stop looking for the worst in people and take things at face value.

Solid post. I agree with most everything except the point about Johnson being the most naturally gifted; I don't think he is.

I am also a fan of Kincaid. However, I don't see any chance that Les will offer a 6'0" 175 lb QB. Les likes big QBs.

I have a stomach churning feeling that we are going to end up with Johnson as our QB for this class. Hopefully Auburn misses on their other QBs and some other position prospects so they have room for him.

His passing looks light years better than Johnson.

I don't know If this is related at all to this thread but I'd be ok with this rule.

And I don't care if he's black or initialed ZZ. I just freaking hate dual threat QBs, they're so hit or miss, whereas normal pro style seem to be able to be decent or above average, dual threats either completely blow or are heisman candidates

I present to you Jerrard Randall:

6'1" 180 lbs.

And it looks like Randall is staying there. I know he is a "special circumstance" but Les still recruited him to play QB

ACT has zero indication of a quarterback. That would just be dumb
