Meh, it depends on how high he is on our board. Apparently LSU doesn't think very highly of him and are throwing OL offers out left and right. If LSU thought he was worth a offer, he'd have one already. He better make LSU's camp, otherwise he might not ever see one.

We're throwing out offers but all to Guards aside from Hunter Bivin and Laremy Tunsil. Every other OL that has publicly been offered is a Guard. That's the opposite of how OL recruiting usually works. Usually more OTs are offered because they have more versatility. I'm guessing we're just being careful with OT offers and OL offers overall. We really don't have a ton of OL offers out.
DJ Park OG From SC and not likely to leave the state
Hunter Bivin OT. ND and midwest schools will be hard to beat
Kent Perkins OT. Texas is the huge leader
Darius James OG/C. Texas is the leader
Josh Boutte OG. LSU commit
Karl Malone OG. LSU/Bama/Utah battle depending on who's really willing to take him
Bryce King C. South Carolina commit
Laremy Tunsil OT. As close to a UF lock as there is.
Maybe we're waiting for James and Perkins to commit to Texas 1st. No worries I guess.
BTW the tweet about Wilson wasn't about lack of effort. It was about being overaggressive. The kid is a mean fricker on the field and tends to have some Suh type issues at times. I'd still offer but I trust the coaches with OL evals.

Quite a few good OL prospects available in LA:
Boutte
Malone
Hoefield
Santa Maria
Thomas
Just off the top of my head.

You're correct but the problem with those 5 is that all but Thomas are interior guys and Thomas has a long way to go before being ready to play in college. Hoefield will likely be the C in the class as long as he shows up to camp and performs decent. Malone is still raw and for some reason KSM isn't real high on the coaches board. I'd be fine with those 5 but think we can do better than a couple of them and Wilson is at worst #2 behind Boutte though I like Wilson better but that one could go either way. Maybe Les and company just feel we're deep enough at OT. We have quite a few of them and it's possible all 3 in the last class could play outside.

Ever since Frank Wilson has been brought on board, the focus has been LA kids first. Under Porter, Wilson most likely would've gotten an offer weeks ago considering how much he liked recruiting out of TX.

Texas A&M commit Ishmael Wilson said he will not be going to Texas. He said done with junior days and confident in his commitment.
Then he only wanted an LSU offer and did not truly have a desire to commit. If someone truly has a dream school, they don't cry and commit to another school when they don't get the offer right away. Maybe he knew he was going to the Aggies but wanted that big LSU offer to make him feel special

What is this kids deal? Does he just want to commit really really early? I dont get it.
Yea makes no sense...Kid is all LSU supposedly and then jumps on an A&M offer as quick as he can.

Maybe he is putting pressure on LSU to offer, which they should...
Which shows immaturity(yes even at that age) and is also willingly deceiving the A&M staff

IMO, some of the TE offers we have given out are with the intent of switching them to OT

Trust the staff. There's a reason why our Oline gets drafted early in the draft

Possible but not sure which ones if any could get big enough to play OL.
Smith=pure TE
Dobard=another pure TE
Bridgewater=pure TE
Huerman=pure TE and OSU bound if his offer was real today.
Christian Morgan could grow to OT size and a lot of people think that's where he eventually ends up but we haven't offered. If we did then we would get him most likely unless Texas offered which is not likely at this point. Just not sure what the coaches plan at OT is. I understand fully the need and want to take LA kids 1st but even that is somewhat not true seeing as though KSM doesn't have a commitable offer and Hoefield/Thomas don't have one. All of our OT offers are to longshots OOS. Also though I agree about the instate kids taking priority, I don't agree to settling for a lesser talent just because he's from LA. That is a quick way to fall from the top of the rankings. Also we could be 15 commits deep if instate kids were the only priority. There are many kids practically begging for an LSU offer that many feel deserve one but yet don't have one. I like how we're recruiting this year so I'm not complaining just wondering out loud about the OT recruiting.

Actually, OL and LB are the only positions to not get drafted early the past 5 years. Barksdale and Sheppard have been the earliest with both going in the third round. I do like how our current O-line is shaping up though. That position group looks to be returning to 2007 form.
As for TE conversions to OT, I don't recall any to have happened under Miles. I thought Nick Jacobs was going to be one but it didn't happen.

Matt Branch comes to mind but that didn't really work out
Posted on 2/19/12 at 1:21 am to coldhotwings
I'm shocked he committed today. Had heard nothing about him even liking us. If LSU comes calling it will be very tough to keep him. His mom did say she was really happy he would be so close to home. I Ags can just hope he's a mommas boy

This topic should remain dormant until LSU
makes a move on him or moves on altogether.

LSU will get both Golden and Wilson if LSU wants them. Fact.
Posted on 2/19/12 at 12:22 pm to HK53
I agree though I think your posting in jest. Golden is no sure thing but I think if we push hard and perform on the field as expected, we can flip him.
Agree with the earlier post that Wilson is not worth talking about until/if LSU makes a move. Someone on the Texas side feels there is something odd going on with LSU and Wilson that has turned LSU off. That's the 1st I've seen about anything so it will be interesting to see if something changes or comes out.

Don't wanna hijack, but I have now seen why you love Massington so much
Posted on 2/19/12 at 12:32 pm to HK53
Not a fact at all. If Golden wanted to be a Tiger, he would have gone to the Jr day where he would have been offered.
Sure he could flip, but you have no reason to think that's what he wants based, not on what he's said, but what he's done.

I ran hurdles against Golden's uncle. He beat me for State by .08
Isaiah is very comfortable in his commitment.
