Thanks for the report.

quote:

He has next level accuracy and zip. He had to place the ball perfectly on every pass because our athletes were running step for step with his receivers but it didn't phase him.

That's what it's going to take in the SEC. That's exactly what LSU lacked from the starting QB against Bama in November.

quote:

He makes it look easy with shitty, and I mean shitty, athletes surrounding him

Sounds like the guy LSU has needed to go with the NFL level receivers they've been kicking out.

quote:

We scored at will but gave up 3tds in 3 drives

Sounds like you're an offensive coach.

quote:

We had a coaches meeting afterwards

I hope the defensive coaches have to buy breakfast today so you can at least get an Egg McMuffin out of the deal.

Seriously, we do appreciate the info. Hope you guys don't face a QB with Rettig's accuracy every week in the fall.

If you don't mind telling us, I'd love to know what team you coach. I watch a bunch of high school football on Fow Sports West. They show four Cali (9:30 p.m. Central) games every Friday night. If your team makes one of their games & you're not playing Rettig, I promise I'll pull for your guys!

IMO, he is one of the top 3 QB's in this class. He is such a prolific passer and has excellent size. Once Kragthorpe can work with him a little bit, he is going to be really special. I'm glad he is an early enrollee.

You must didn't read his article after he committed. For some reason the kid bleed's purple and gold. He also seems loyal to the team that stood by him through tough times. Besides it's late in the recruiting process for QB's. If he is not going to USC then why not stick with his committment to lsu??

Until the LOI is signed, it's never too late.

True, but why worry about him decommitting when there is, as of now, no credible reason to suggest that he might decommit? Seems like folks would rather find reasons to be insecure than reasons to be proud.

We are loaded at the skill positions and thanks to the OT we are on a pretty good program. If he lights us up he is the real deal. Will report back tomorrow.

Update
1) In 3 drives he had 3 tds versus us, we were 1 game from the title last year and have vastly superior athletes.
2) I thought that he was going to be some skinny kid from Cathedral he is every bit of 6'4 and a ripped 220. He had guns .
3) He makes it look easy with shitty and I mean shitty athletes surrounding him. He has next level accuracy and zip. He had to place the ball perfectly on every pass because our athletes were running step for step with his receivers but it didn't phase him.
4) I promise you it won't be easy keeping his commitment, he is special he will shoot up the ratings.

So, the three high school players that LSU fans need to hope remain healthy over the next 8 months are:
- Anthony Jennings
- Hayden Rettig
- Max Browne

USC is well out of the picture with only 6 schollies left to give and Max Browne, QB, already secured.

We actually have nine more rides (3 early enrollees) to give. With Jesse Scroggins transferring, there has been talk of bringing in another QB in this class.

If so, we would most likely offer Johnny Standish before any other local kid.

What quarterback would even think about committing to a school with two top 100 recruits who will be redshirt sophomores and a top 5 recruit in the same class as him?

The same could be said about what QB would want to play under a Les Miles offense the past 6 years.
