A lot of that can be attributed to Les Miles stagnant offense. And before you say it's not his offense, you know it's at least partially his. Anybody who says he doesn't have a hand in this offense is ignorant. We need to get back to our 06-07 form.
ummm... Tell me a head coach that doesn't have a say in the offense?

Wasn't 06-07 his offense as well?

Stagnant? JJ/JL are the reasons it's been "stagnant".

Ah yes, the secret playbook. I've heard of this playbook.
I never said anything about a secret playbook. But it's no secret that Les refused to run a lot of the plays they had worked on in practice during live game situations while Lee and JJ were there. That goes directly to the trust issues. I'm not trying to beat either of these kids up, but both had deficiencies that severely limited our offensive production at times. This is part of what makes Les such a great coach, IMO. There's a slew of other coaches that would've possibly lost the 1st bama game, Arky and GA games because they would've gotten impatient and tried to throw it all over the place. High risk/high reward simply doesn't work in this league. The defenses are way too good.

Finally a few good comments after another thread got turned into an zinger/poke/pet peeve fest. I believe the whole argument on is Les running the offense is stupid and pointless. It doesn't matter if he is calling the plays or not. Because if he isn't then the guy he hired to call the play is and that puts Les in ultimate control of the offense regardless of who decided to run play X just now.

This is a common misconception about our qb situation the last few years. Les Miles will do whatever he thinks he needs to do to win. We've only lost 2 games in the last 3 years that we shouldn't have lost(Ole Ms & PSt) and we haven't been blown out since 08 back when Lee was starting. JJ never has and never will be a great passer, but he didn't turn the ball over very often and he won a lot of games. Lee made his contributions, but in the end wins and losses are all that really matters. Lee looked solid running a simplified version of the offense against 9 teams that couldn't handle our running game last season. Against the more talented teams on our schedule who had better defensive fronts Jefferson was simply the better option. After the 1/9 debacle, I'm more upset with Miles for not emptying the playbook but not necessarily for his choice of qb.

Yeah, besides those 2 WRs that will probably play D1 ball

I think the implication is that Rettig is the kind of QB that allows you to throw the ball down field; because of his talent, the risk is outweighed substantially by the reward.

If he's half the QB he's said to be, you will have one hell of a weapon under center (in before "that's what she said").

Rettig is Cathedral. I sense a bunch of AU butthurt for taking that shitty Qb. Don't be mad because Les suckered y'all into accepting his commit.

I know this is the recruiting board, but how dare you have a thought out argument that makes sense. I have said for 4 years, that you cannot hide a QB. I think he just played the guy he thought gave him the best chance to win the game.

I was getting ready to fap to this thread until y'all turned it into another "JJ/JL/Les Miles' offense sucks" thread.
Kinda like watching a good porno and suddenly there are two gay midgets going at it.

BS. Most people, when making a point about competition, make at least some thin reference to competition. Yours was just another zinger pot shot at Miles that jumped into your head and that you are now trying to backtrack from.

FYI auburn fans know everything about Rettig after recruiting him for a few months and then stealing Johnson

That's pretty much what I've been saying. Deficiencies under center have adversely affected our offensive production. McCarron looked all-pro on 1/9 compared to what we've been seeing the last 4 years, in spite of being a first year starter. To me, that was very telling. Our offense should be much more efficient moving forward with different personnel in place.

Yea, thanks for taking Johnson. Now you will feel what LSU felt when we had JJ playing for us 4 years in a row. Cuz Johnson didn't look anything special on his film.

3* WRs usually play D1 ball. And Damari already has D1 offers. Don't know what you're laughing at. There's talent on Cathedral.

I liked both Rettig and Johnson before either committed, and would have been fine with either. We couldn't handle another Zeke Pike-esque attitude, so we took Johnson. Not mad in the slightest

I'm not the one spewing out hyperboles to make my QB sound better

Are you suggesting Rettig has a bad attitude? Look, we're happy to have two quarterbacks in this class at this point that don't have the last name Johnson. You can deal with the project at this point because we're over it.

Not a "bad" attitude, just cocky like Pike. Not really a problem with it, our coaches just didn't want two in the same locker room for 4 years.

LSU got 2 good QBs, I like both of them just as I like Johnson. Congrats

Pike was a little more than just cocky.

the kid is/was stupid with his twitter and banter back and forth with bama fans.

not saying Rettig is any different, but Pike was something special, for sure.
