This is the lesson i learned after 5 for 5: Never trust a sportswriter with "inside sources" or a ranter with over 1500 posts when they're predicting recruits.
Tragically, some have yet to learn this...

When its 50/50 and the other team is confident, go with them.

Na, man. Keep the info coming. You, Jimmy, Shea, Sonny, and whoever else all mean well. You're attempting to keep Tiger fans informed on the whims and throws of teenage leanings on collegiate preferences.
Its a moving target, more of an art than a science. Certainly, situations can change and sometimes very quickly.
People on this board, or in the general population, who get upset at the professionals and insiders, are both short sighted and confused.
These people either cant or refuse to understand that this is like predicting the weather, but less reliable. The best meteorologists in the world cant predict at 100 percent, hence they work in guesstimates and percentages.
The insiders can only use information given to them by the coaching staff, friends or family of the prospect, or the kid himself.
Their job is not to read minds, but to give a best guess based on the sources listed above.
Just because we are unhappy we lost out on a talented prospect does not mean we need to chastise our best sources of information.
They all gave their predictions. NONE OF THEM GAVE A GUARANTEE IN THIS INSTANCE.
Some of you really need to take a deep breath, reevaluate the priorities in your life, and realize while we may lose specific battles, we have been in large winning the war in recruiting.

Not sure how anyone ever came to the conclusion that he would commit to LSU.

Not your fault. You go with what you're told.

Yep. No harm, no foul, Red.

All these LSU "insiders" are starting to look silly. at all of those trending CB picks for LSU.
And social media/networking is killing the recruiting bizz. Kids post top 5's and announcing their commitments via twitter.

yeah, the recruiting "insiders" are making me want to not follow anymore. congrats aTm
Its limpidly obvious you will always be a "follower."
Perhaps, however, you should follow Alabama. You would fit in there. LSU doesnt need crybabies calling themselves fans.
When we lose out on a recruit, perhaps just a simple congratulations to the other team on their efforts would suffice rather than adopting the vivid look of a scorned b*tch who has fallen asleep clinging to her tear soaked picture of her ex?
We are top 3 or arguably number 1 in the country in terms of recruiting. That is based on the number of football players we put in the NFL, not on some arbitrary potential-based aggregation of the subjective opinions of "experts"

I seriously can't fathom why a highly ranked DB recruit would pick A&M over LSU or Bama. Has A&M ever put a DB in the NFL?
I know nothing about this kid and wish him the best. Picking A&M over a team that has flooded the NFL with DB's leads me to believe that he doesn't want to compete to earn playing time.
If that is the case, he made the right choice and likely never would have seen the field at LSU.

I guess it's pretty easy to be a recruiting "reporter" these days. Make a prediction about a player's decision, state unequivocally you are right, and then when you're wrong just tweet out

How can anyone be faulted for missing on such a bizarre recruitment? Geez guys lighten up a lil.

No one here complained when Marcus Spears or Michael Clayton chose LSU before our Golden Age. At the time, we didnt have a great record of putting players in the NFL.
I can never fault a kid who chooses to attend their home state school in an attempt to build something special.
Its a double edged sword, as I want all our home grown talent at LSU

Good luck Roney. You are officially TIGER BAIT!

Whoa, there buddy. No one on here is getting their panties in a wad except you.
We're just stating the PRESUMPTION that IT SEEMS LIKE 85% of the time the "insiders" are dead wrong. At least the ones for LSU. If anyone should be upset over this, it is the Sonny's, Shea's, and Jimmy's out there b/c they're getting played like a fiddle at an irish wedding - by a bunch of silly children who shouldn't have to put up with half the media pressure that's put on 'em.

I can sympathize. They are dealing with teenagers who sometimes lie, or change their mind. If you have been one or been around one, imagine trying to predict anything they do.
Also, you are in a business where your consumer demographic is the rant. They are passionate, fiery, irrational, and moody. People forget the wins and remember the losses. They seem to always cheer for the backup to the point where some even hope the starter will get injured. These are the people Shea, Sonny and whoever have to respond to.
I make mistakes in my personal life and professional life, and I usually have better information to base my decisions off of than these guys. Im just happy that when I screw up, its not out there in the public for all you a**holes to dissect
