It is quite hilarious though to read the garbage put out by James Smith. From what I can tell through TexAgs, our guys actually try to be realistic about chances...

Our side thought 55/45 or 60/40 A&M.

This. We'll see what happens after the upcoming season unfolds. A terrible A&M season (likely) coupled with a great LSU season (possible) could change things.

I don't see it changing. Kids know who aTm is already and think they can turn around a lousy defense.

Should recruiting stargazers start to worry?

I do find it noteworthy; however, that we have 15 current commitments and only 4 come from the defensive side of the ball.

I, unlike others, see Xavier Lewis as a CB, and an elite one. Our depth will be thinner at CB than Safety when he enrolls, and I think he, along with Donte Jackson and Kevin Toliver would not only be more than sufficient for a CB haul, but one hell of a pull.

Less concerned about the DB's, I am more focused on the front 7. I believe we definitely need at least 2 quality LB's this class(3 if we can pull them), and I would really like 2 quality DT's. Our DT numbers may look decent, but they are log jammed and all young. It happened with the LB recruits a couple years ago. We brought in 5 or 6 in one class and lost 2. We will likely lose a couple DT's due to lack of playing time, and we need a couple good ones as you can never have too many big guys up front.

I am very interesting in how our front 7 defensive recruiting ends this year. On the other hand, I am very impressed with Camerons proactive nature in recruiting QB's, Wilsons RB recruiting is still rolling full steam, and Grimes is really killing it in OL recruiting.

It has been a long time since the Offensive side of the ball was up to par with the defensive side, but with this and last years classes, they could soon catch pace

Jimmy does fine. He can be a little brash at times but he works his arse off. He whiffed on this one though, no doubt.

Really guys? I Don't think anyone realizes how difficult it is to be right all the time. I don't recall writing anything matter-of-factly regarding the situation anyway. Myself, Mike S., Shea, Sonny, DP etc. work extremely hard trying to get as much accurate information as possible. The problem lies in the fact that very few people are honest in regards to their recruitment these days. Nobody will ever be 100% correct. I'm okay with being wrong that's why I have no problem throwing my opinion out there. What I do have a problem with is seeing everyone attack the analyst when they don't get it right.

I have a lot of respect for you guys because you are the most diehard of fans. In the same token, that same passion leads to anger and finger-pointing when it isn't necessary. For example: I've received 43 emails to count regarding today's decision. 39 of those were extremely vulgar and hateful. If your stockbroker was right seven out of 10 times he would be considered the best in the world. And he often has more solid data to go on than we do. There are a lot of details regarding the situation that may or may not come to light. But I can promise you many people were confused about what has transpired this week. No shame in getting it wrong.

I'm not mad, props to you for coming here and calling some people out.

We're talking about kids here, their minds change hourly.

I greatly appreciate your work and input.

Thanks Cross... I'm not sure Elam really change his mind here. He and his coaches just misled one of the parties involved. And with a prospect like Elam that is so hard to get in touch with, sometimes that's all you had to go on. I'm not mad at anyone here for calling me out. That's why they're here. Because they are more passionate than any other Tigers fan.

I can understand that. But I think people also need to realize how fluid these things actually are. And even when you correct yourself before it happens you still get hammered. So where is the fair ground for us to stand on?

I just don't like how subjective the whole process has become. Everyone is doing predictions nowadays. Everyone is checking with their sources and getting the inside scoop and I know it's because that's what a lot of the fans want but I prefer the unbiased content.

Give me the interviews that focuses on the recruits explaining why they like the schools on their lists or why they favor certain schools. For the analyst that think one kid is better than the other or a kid deserved a certain rating, don't make it sound so opinionated. Bust out some numbers and stats, hell you can even post clips of analyzing the recruits film, I know some recruiting services already do this on occasion.

Like it or not, its really all about the recruit and him deciding where he wants to go, it's not about who breaks the story first. Fans and media do not deserve to be inlcuded in the decision process. I mean we are all adults here, does it really matter that we know where a kid wants to go a week or 2 days or 2 hours before his announcement.

I'm a fan of football. A kid doesn't have to go to LSU for me to hope he has success in the future.

Rant over/

Curious as to what you heard that led you to believe Elam was choosing LSU? I've read today that he actually gave his commitment to the staff on his recent visit. Did you hear that? If so, I would think that would influence the recruiting analysts predictions. If Elam did do that and then flipped, it reminds me of what Tony Brown did to the staff at the UA game in January. I think it's the recruits who can't be trusted more than the analysts; well maybe with the exception of Hamm at Gig'em 247. He's just terrible on many levels.

Well said. I think a lot of posters try to understand why the prospect (in this case, Elam) would choose A&M (or any other school) after the fact. That's a mistake IMO. It may not have been very important for Elam to carry on the DBU mantra. Who knows. Sometimes, the kid doesn't pick the good guys, and I don't feel like that should be an indictment on the coaching staff, the program, or recruiting experts. All three of those parties are working with limited information and doing the best they can with it. There's no point in lingering around trying to find someone to blame. On to the next one. There are plenty of other good options at CB for the '15 class.

This and more... Those kind of things I can't share here if I plan to use it on my site. I have to be fair to both my employer and chicken for allowing me to do this. But there were certainly a lot of similarities to other events that have transpired over recent time.
