How many players are the Tigers looking to take at each position?

quote:

qb 1
rb 2
wr 4
te 2
ol 4
dl 5
lb 2
db 5
total 25

What do y'all think?

Probably 2-3 DEnds and same goes for DTs
Possibly 3 running backs, 5 wide receivers, 3 line backers, another Dlineman, or another dback.
How would you play the numbers?

My opinion:

1 QB
2 RB
1 FB possibly
4 WR
2 TE
4 OL
4 DL
2 LB
5 DB

If no fullback, a third LB or RB seems most likely. But I don't think we'll take 3 RBs in a class until '15.

ETA: Also, a 6th DB isn't out of the question either.

The 2013 class was so deep and filled a lot of urgent need positions, minus probably safety. Because of this, I think the coaches have the luxury of targeting the best players without being slaves to position. But your breakdown seems about right. Also, the plethora of strong walk-on kickers probably saves a spot there unless the staff really likes someone like they did Daniel Carlson.

We need 3 RBs. RB and S is our biggest need, IMO.

Smash Williams

What JUCO position do we need? The only JUCO I can see us taking is D. Williams and he would fullfil a WR need. We could possibly take:
Dupre
Quinn
Simms
Noil (Could move to DB if needed)

Then add Williams because you dont turn down a player of his caliber. I'd still take all 4 receivers with him because Williams will be 1 and gone.
Also, we will need 3 RB's in this class unless we move Brazil to RB. I say that because I can see Hill and Blue going early and that would leave Hilliard and Magee. Hilliard could also leave early due to his twins. I dont think it would be good to just have Magee and 2 freshmen.

The nice thing about filling most our needs with the last cycle, we dont need to be as position need oriented this time around. We'll still try to get a couple backs, and 2-3 DE and DT like the staff wants, stuff like that. But we're able to take the best players available now...if that means 6 DBs instead of 5, so be it, I welcome it

I don't know the numbers but RB is without a doubt a position of need and WR is not. I think if we have a chance at some really good talent WR would be the position we can afford to drop off a guy to take the star!

We could be losing 5 WRs off the current roster before the '14 class gets to campus. I'd say that's a position of need.

We need 3 rbs. Hilliard already tweeting about leaving early. Blue is a sr and hill will be eligible.

OL - 4, always want that number at least in any class

TE - 2, only have two between the so and fr classes. LSU runs many three TE sets

WR - 4, only have four between the so and fr classes.

RB - 3, need at least that many. Only Hill in the so and fr classes.

QB - 1, always want at least one in every class

DL - 3, great haul the other week. Need to keep it well stocked. 1 DE, 1 DT and 1 that couple possibly play either. With the possibility that one of the LBs we just signed might outgrow the position three is a solid number.

LB - 3, need to keep the numbers up especially if Beckwith and or Jones get any bigger.

DB - 5, with the amount of DBs LSU plays every game we need at least that number.

I believe those numbers come out to a full class of 25.

That's a solid list.

QB-1 could take none but I think Cam wants one of his own

RB-2 Have to have at least 2 but I'd like to see a 3rd change of pace guy

WR-4 could see a fifth.

TE-2

OL-4 could see a 5th sneak in if the right guy

DE-2 maybe a 3rd

DT-2 maybe 3

LB-3

CB-2 3 if the right guy and Paris is gonna start out there

S-3 I count Paris here even though he'll start at CB.

FB-I think we'll take one May be a walk on or may be a scholarship.

K/P-think there will be at least 1 in the class. We need a K and Rheem can leave anytime he wants at his age.
