I hate the bastards. They eat all my corn and watermelons. I had one get in the attic... that was a nightmare. I can't believe something so big was getting through an opening so small.

If you do find a way, let us know.

I’ve caught probably 40-50 the last few years in have-a-heart traps with dry cat food.

I, however, do not have a heart when it comes to raccoons and I shoot them in their heads with a suppressed .22 pistol.

a good pellet gun and then, first you make a roux

my neighbor tosses 1 in the drainage ditch down the street at least once a month, and sometimes an armadillo

he eats the rabbits and the squirrels eating his pecans, its the only way his garden stands a chance

Interested in a solution as well, but for the hunting property. I would try posting on the outdoor board. I know some hunters have creative solutions to minimize deer feed loss.

I use 'Pied Piper' traps by my deer feeder (and garden). If you trap one and leave it in there to die a long (days), slow, agonizing death, then leave it after it dies, the other coons will stay far far away. Don't ask me how I know. Repeat if they later return.

Coons are worse than rats. I use those sticky traps for rats, and when they stick, they face the same slow, agonizing death as the damn coons.

Just be careful with the have a hearts that you don't leave one set and not check it. But yeah those with a strong pellet gun or .22 are honestly the best method.

I have camera footage of them going in a Hav A Hart trap and figuring a way out through the trap door. Numerous times. Critters are smart

Had 5 of them (mom and 4 babies) living in the attic when I bought my current house. Had two pest control companies who "specialized" in trapping. It took nearly a month to get rid of them. Talking with the companies, they have to humanely release them and many companies will just go to a state forest or something. Well I happen to live very close to a state forest. Racoons are very smart. If trapped once, they learn and don't make the same mistake. This racoon was on game camera straight up ignoring every type of trap and food we put in front of it. Caught 3 babies by luck (2 fell through a ceiling vent and were caught by hand, 1 ended up in a trap). After that, the mom took her last baby and left on her own. We even closed up all holes and trapped them in the attic with the food in the traps being the only option. Still she just tore a new hole to escape instead of going in the trap. 4 weeks and thousands in costs for trapping and damage. F**k racoons. I gave up on the humane traps and set lethal conibear/body-grip traps inside the house by the end of it. I'm just getting a hotel for a week and gassing the house or something if it happens again.

A couple raccoon hand traps and marshmallows.

Toss out a few marshmallows for a couple of days to dull their fear and then enjoy the next day after loading up the traps.
