Your favorite products/recipes/tricks for your diet?

Can be a recipe, a substitute for junk food, a product in the store, an idea, etc. Just something that makes following your diet a little more interesting and satisfying.
Most people starting out with a weight loss goal aren't really sure what to eat beyond lean proteins and vegetables, which can get boring to some people. Especially if they're not very cooking savvy. Over the past year, I've kept a journal of ideas, tricks, and recipes that have made eating at my calorie/macro goals more enjoyable.
Sometimes it is an entire recipe, like this Quinoa Enchilada Bake. Sometimes it is a trick to lighten up my favorite junk food, like chicken salad made with Greek yogurt instead of mayo or pizza on pita bread. Sometimes it is a store product like Nature's Own 40-cal bread or Joseph's 60-cal pita, which have both been game changers and allowed the world of sandwiches, burgers, and pizza back into my life. Sometimes it is just something simple like the mention of boiled eggs and my realization that they would make a great protein-packed addition to my day.
Always looking to add ideas. What are yours?

I've made this whole 30 ranch. It's pretty good, but mine came out a little thin. Its good for those people like me who find plain ole grilled chicken boring.

Good point. This shite is amazing on grilled chicken dipped in (the below) ranch:

My go to sweet tooth fix is
2/3 cup low fat cottage cheese
1 scoop vanilla protein powder
3-4 diced strawberries
4-5 walnut halves
Mix it all up in a bowl. Quite simple. Quite effective

Not really a trick, but as strict as I am with my diet..
For a sweet tooth, I substitute a sweet potato for brown rice

Check out this recipe for Buffalo Chicken Casserole. It uses that hot sauce and ranch I linked plus spaghetti squash. It may seem heavy on the hot sauce but its very good.

I stole this one from the Zero Belly Diet book, this vinaigrette is delicious and so easy to make. I mix it up in a Blender Bottle and refrigerate.
Zero Belly Vinaigrette
- 1/3 cup raw apple cider vinegar
- 2/3 cup olive oil
- 1½ tsp Dijon mustard
- 1½ tsp honey
- 1/4 tsp each salt and pepper
There is a healthy dining spot across from my gym called the Protein House and their food is very healthy & delicious- but fairly pricey. My favorite dish by far is the PH Hash and I've been able to replicate it fairly easily at home and have purchased all of the ingredients at Costco. The amount of ingredients you will use will obviously depend on your macro requirements.
PH Hash
- Ground Bison
- Six Egg Whites
- Grilled Sweet Potatoes
- Red Onions
- Celery
- Red Peppers
I grill the sweet potatoes and then cube them and cook the bison in a pan on the stove with olive oil. I then add the rest of the ingredients and cook until done. Season to taste (I use Cholula).

Not really a trick, but I smoke most of the meat I eat. Saturday or Sundays I will spend most of the day smoking chicken quarters or whole fryers. Sometimes Pork shoulder. During the week I will scout out stores for deals. Usually I can get a pack of 4 chicken quarters for around $4-5 which is enough to feed me most of the week. Pork Shoulder will get you even more band for your buck if you find an awesome deal. Those last even longer and you can make a dozen recipes out of pulled pork. The smoke flavor plus the very little prep times makes is what I love most about it. In a nutshell this post is more about saving time & money

I shop along the wall of the grocery store (meats, produce, seafood, dairy) and avoid the middle aisles as much as possible. I have a Shakeology mixed with frozen fruit daily for extra nutrients. If I crave something crunchy, I'll lay out shredded cheddar cheese on a paper plate and microwave it for 2 min. and make a cheese chip.

Ditch the quinoa and do zucchini squash/cheese/egg crust.

Make your own mayo out of avocado oil. Easy and better tasting/for you than Greek yogurt (even the 5% milkfat kind has lactose and is pretty carby).

or pizza on pita bread.
I use FlatOut low carb wraps. Watch the tomato sauce you buy. They vary widely in sugar content. Also see above re zucchini/cheese/egg crust. It is excellent but a little more work.

Greek yogurt is probably my go to for snacking and protein. It's amazing how many of those small cups I can put down.

I am not on a special low carb type of plan :) I appreciate the tips though. Maybe they'll help someone who is.
FWIW - The pita I mentioned has 9g of carbs. The flat out you mentioned has 18g. I eat 2 of the pita pizzas when I make pizza.

Since I feel like being nice before going to sleep, here is a great cookbook especially for people like lay weights who are very strict

I use Joseph's pitas a lot for sandwiches.
But your figures are way wrong. the flat out I use for pizzas doesn't have 18g net carbs. rather it is 7g net + it's big enough for two, for lunch anyway.
I'm also curious why you're worried about these substitutions if you don't care about carbs. Just eat the real thing. Also, I'm wondering why Greek yogurt would be better for you than mayo made w organic cage free eggs and avocado oil.
