And what ratio you using? I'm just getting back into the supplement game after basically a decade + hiatus. I knew BCAAs existed and that they were amino acids, but that was it. Went into a health store and this super friendly dude who was so jacked he could barely move gave me a brief tutorial on just about every supplement in the store. He recommended one with a 10:1:1 ratio.

After doing some online research it seems 10:1:1 may pass the point of diminishing returns. 2:1:1 seemed to be the most widely recommended. So I got some from APS, the company that makes Mesomorph--thanks for that, too HFB. Just not sure when the optimal time to take them is. Dude at the store was saying he takes before, durin, and after his workout. And maybe even before bed. I'm trying to be more efficient and go easy on my kidneys and wallet. TIA

I drink an ISO100 shake (25g protein, 5.5g 2:1:1) 1 hour before my work out , C4 Zero (2g 2:1:1) as I walk into the gym, then a ISOPure (50g protein, 10g 2:1:1) shake immediately after. Probably not the best plan, but it's what I do.

I've been taking 1 scoop of the same stuff during my workouts which usually are between an hour and an hour and a half. What noticeable difference am I supposed to be obersving by using bcaas? I take my preworkout and a vitamin b complex, and can feel the difference in energy and stamina from those two alone, just haven't really been able to pinpoint what the bcaas are there for.

I scoop about 15mins before working out, maybe another during the work out.

If I'm feeling frosty before bed and when waking up.

Just came across a study that you must eat whole foods or add EAAs with BCAAs to elevate muscle protein shakes synthesis. By themselves, branch chain aminos are useless.

What do BCAA's do? What would be the difference in someone who takes them vs someone who doesn't if they both workout the same?

I'd like to know what BCAA's do as well. I do cardio 4-5 times a week and lift weights 3-4 times a week. I'm 41 and 6'2" 205 lbs. Looking to drop a few more pounds and tone my mid section up. Currently only take a multi, fish oil and protein shakes.

Helps your body process protein more efficiently. All the studies call it "protein synthesis." I usually do 1 scoop of pre-workout with BCAAs in it, 1 scoop BCAA during workout, and protein shake with BCAAs in it post-workout.

amino acids are the building blocks of protein. its basically a protein synthesizer that helps your body use protein more efficiently.

what I've noticed from taking bcaa's on the regular is when I'm dieting, bcaa's don't put my body into a catabolic state (breaking down muscle).
