Don't be a puss and hold on then!

you shouldnt hold on the top rail unless, you are trying to use the incline to directly work your calfs and not to burn calories.
I walk most days at lunch on 15* and I dont hold on at all. you are right you burn way less calories that away.

That would actually work for me. I lift at lunch but I can get to the gym in the morning before work and do the walking at least 5 days a week.

get after it. At night while at home knock out some sets of 10 of burpees like 5 or 6 days a week if you really want to accelerate fat loss. If you do this and do not eat carbs after, you will have used up your glycogen stores and this will allow you to more effeciently burn bodyfat.

What makes you think the studies are flawed? Not being a dick, really just curious

I don't either . You shouldn't hold onto the top when you're doing it
If you don't hold on, your heartrate will rise quickly and get you into fat burning mode while in a fasted state

just the parameters of most of the studies. Many times the participants are unmonitored, the variables are not the same, etc. Not all are flawed and not all show fasted cardio doesn't work.
I know from expierence that I tend to burn more body fat when doing fasted walking vs just walking in the afternoon after I have broken my fast. I know plenty of others it has worked for and watch some of the best coaches in the US use it to strip body fat and see the photos to see it works. Sure alot of it is just calories being burned but I beleive 100% there is a EPOC effect and that fasted walking targets bodyfat.
I believe the same thing with High intensity conditioning done after a heavy lifting session.
I also believe that carb cutoffs work to hold bodyfat at bay despite science not showing the same thing.
I am a very science based person, but when you see something work first hand, over and over and you watch top coaches use the same techniques with success. Well you start to become like wendler with his famous quote of
“You want science and studies? frick you. I’ve got scars and blood and vomit.”
Eventually you just have to come to the realization that science hasn't caught up yet. The amount of calories burned from 360min of walking in a week shouldn't even add up to 3500 calories burned, yet somehow people tend to lose more then that while eating at maintenance levels. There is something going on there, just we have figured out what yet.

Fasted AM walking - how long do y'all recommend?
Posted on 5/31/17 at 3:57 pm to KoozieKing
if your goal is fatloss, shoot for 360 min a week if possible. If not do what you can.
Posted on 5/31/17 at 4:02 pm to lsu777
51 mins a day? No one has time for that, and mobility and lifting!

Do you have a minimum time? If I do 30 minutes in the morning, is that too little in your opinion?

I have dealt with very bad foot issues and walking that much would probably destroy me. Would an elliptical be as beneficial as walking? I am sure it would be but wanted to ask opinion.
Fasted elliptical in the morning, lifting MWF and cardio T, TH. Trying to lose weight, body fat and keep getting stronger. Would this be ideal?
Posted on 5/31/17 at 5:06 pm to stevengtiger
Elliptical would be fine just keep heart rate low.
And no there isn't a minimum time, something is better than nothing

I"m doing intermittent fasting, so every morning when I walk my dog I'm doing it in a fasted state. What would be the recommended walk? I usually do around .5 miles to 1 mile, I do the same thing at night. I do workout nearly every day, mainly crossfit. I have been including sprint intervals and jogging over the last week as well. But curious as to how much walking I should be doing in the morning during my actual fasting.
Posted on 5/31/17 at 7:22 pm to CocoLoco
Shoot for an hour a day of a brisk walk,6 days a week. 360 min a week should be the goal. If you are breathing hard, you are going to fast. Save the sprints for at night after the last meal or if before last meal, don't eat carbs in the last meal.

Man I'm 35 with 3 lil boys, oldest being 6. If I can make time anybody can. That's what a 5am alarm is for.

Does this mean you have a 10 min steady state warm up followed by 8 sets of 20/10s sprint intervals, and then do another 10 min of steady state concluded with another round of sprint intervals?
Posted on 5/31/17 at 10:22 pm to Bmath
No it means 16 rounds of 20s on 10s off or if you truely give it everything you have, you can do reverse with 10s work, 20 seconds steady state.
Total of 8 min.
Total of 8 min.
