I'm trying to start running again and have come across a few running/fitness apps. Any suggestions to which one is the best and if so why?

Thanks guys :)

as far as counting steps I think my iPhone is bogus.

I'm thinking of getting a smart watch but I'm not sure how accurate they are.

sorry for odd reply but I figured maybe a good suggestion might come up later on??

I have just the regular Health App on my iPhone but again I think its pretty sketchy to rely on. I have no proof though.

just a gut feeling.

Thanks for the reply.

I have that too but I saw a few apps on FB that was a running trainer type of thing. You walk for 5 min and the gradually build up to running. When I searched in the App Store they had several of them.

I use MapMyWalk for walk/jog. It seems to do a really good job of tracking and you don't need all the premium bells and whistles. It also links to MyFitnessPal so it accounts for calories burned.

ETA: They have a MapMyRun app if you're talking strictly running. Just know that really any app you download is going to have some inaccuracies.

I like the Nike running App. Strava is also very popular and pairs with various Garmin devices.

The also have "map my ride+". You can track a range of activities. Gives you audio updates on your run at intervals you select even if your are also playing music or using audiobook apps.

There is also a web site that syncs to the app and the exercise date feeds over to apps like "my fitness pal" for calories burned.

Been using it for years.

Strava is the best I've used. I've tried map my run, map my ride, and runkeeper as well. Strava you can do either running or cycling in the same app, which is nice. Runkeeper may be the same now, but I don't think it was when I was using it years ago.

Do you find the Map my Run app's calorie count to be accurate? It says I'm burning 550 plus calories after my 3 mile walks. I've been told that's too generous
