Howdy all!

I just starting posting on this board and this is my first new topic.

I just got done with a 12 week heavy lifting/bulking cycle. I am very happy with my muscle gains and dont even hate myself for all the extra weight I gained. However, like all good things, this too must end. I have started a 4 week rest cycle (might extend to 6 weeks depending on BW) and need some help.

I have bad knees and want to keep this as low impact as possible. Today I tried out the rowing machine, workout is below:
1000m at 31 rows/minute on tension level 7 (I know all tension levels differ)
3 sets total
My legs were rubber and heart rate good and high (1,432 BPM Approx.)

I cannot do this MTWTF, probably MWF easily. I need help finding something to do Tuesday and Thursday and possibly something to add MWF.

So, with all that being said, help me, please! Also, what is good for a good starting row workout? I shot from the hip and have no idea if that was a workout or not.

Why are you giving up lifting for that long, pretty stupid. Why not atleast do lots of bodyweight movements?

I love rowing but I normally just go 30 minutes straight, 10 resistance, and hit at least 5000 meters. You stop at 1000m and then start again? Could be great, I've just never done it.

As far as Tuesday and Thursday, why not try yoga? You will sweat like you wouldnt believe and be very humbled. You can probably download or stream the P90X Yoga somewhere.

Shoulder and elbow are flaring up real bad. It took twice as long last time to get the inflammation down and back to lifting last time. I plan on easing back into it changing my workout up a bit after 4-6 weeks. What do you recommend?

1000m rest 3 minutes, 1000m rest 3, 1000m
What RPM do you keep at? No way I could go 30 minutes straight right now.

This is what I am looking for.

I do want to add, I am taking a 4-6 rest cycle, not break. Low impact, low weight, high cardio, cycle. Thats why I started with rowing and looking to expand, just not with weights really (I think).

I recommend doing the reddit bodyweight program three days a week. As far as rowing, do one day long distance. For you this might be a mile, I dunno you will have to see. Then do one day tabata work or 100m sprints. Last day do some other type of HiiT like 30 seconds on, 30 second jump rope, 30 sec rest for 10 rounds.

For the record, I was taught that the "resistance" on the erg isn't exactly resistance. Think of it more of the size of the boat you'd be in, so 1 would be like a single scull, 10 would be like rowing a canoe. I usually kept mine around 4 or 5.

30 minutes, 1 minute on 1 minute off. For the 1 minute on, all out sprint and go as hard as you can go. It will wipe you out

It’s the amount of air resistance to start with, well that’s the only time it comes into effect. Once you get going it’s all the same no matter the setting.

I have done between 7 and 8 so far this week. I will drop it tomorrow and them load it back to 10 on Friday and see if I can tell a difference.

Ill try that. So far I have been doing 10 mins at 30 strokes/min, 5 min break, 10 more mins at 30 s/m. It kills me when im done.
