Anyone had it and had long lasting success? My ENT said that my right nostril is almost closed, and my long term sinus issues could be fixed as well as breathing issues if I had the surgery but after speaking with quite a few people who've had it and weren't successful, I'm starting to lean towards just dealing with my nasal strips to sleep at night. Thoughts?

I had it to help snoring (and to straighten out my septum).

Didn't do shite for my snoring, and the recovery was pretty shitty.

Didn't fix shite for me. Arguably made it worse. Did FESS and septo at same time, recovery was brutal

Helped, but it was not the game changer I thought it would be. I broke my nose as a young kid and did the septum surgery later in life, perhaps if I had fixed it when it broke the outcome would have been better.

I thought mine was a game changer when they first pulled out the stents but I have to take Flonase now constantly or it gets backed up and I can’t breathe worth a shite.

Everybody’s results will differ. Had mine done in 1980. Straightened out my septum but I deal with severe allergies among other sinus issues.

Have you read the thread on taping your mouth shut while you sleep?

This. Plus I don’t have normal boogers anymore.

I had it done over 20 years ago. Severely deviated septum and some sinus issues. They also lasered the turbinates at the same time. This was maybe my soph or junior year in college and no long lasting issues. I still need some saline rinse in the spring and fall to help with allergies but other than that, I can breathe pretty easy.

I had it when I was 16,71 now.I was having horrific sinus infections before.I have never had another sinus infection since.
Still can’t breathe well through my nostrils but at least no more infections.

Side story-I woke up during the surgery. The Dr.was blurry like an apparition, had a rod down my nose hammering on it,felt like it was coming out the back of my head and was the last thing I remembered.
When I went back to get the packing removed the Dr. asked me if I remembered anything during the surgery.I told him what I had experienced. He said I went wild, took everybody in surgery dept. to get me under control.First they got cloth restraints on me and I broke out of those, then they put leather restraints on me.
I don’t remember any of that.

Obviously they didn’t use paralytic drugs in those days.Glad they didn’t,that would have been a horrific experience to be lying there with chiseling going on and not be able to move.

Had it done in 2018, had 90 plus percent closure in one nostril and had significant trouble breathing through my nose. Had septum straightened and turbinates reduced. I didn’t have any stints. The recovery took about 5 days. Then I was just extra aware of my nose, wouldn’t say it was super painful but then again I took the hydrocodone on a schedule. It was impressive what same out of my nose after surgery.
It helped me be able to breath through my nose. I still get allergies, but nothing like it used to be. I also use saline spray daily which I find helps a ton.

Had it done in 2000. Septum bones aligned, turbinates worked on, sinuses opened more. Everything was a breeze and the recovery was weird. Deadening of nostrils and the dried blood and gunk sucked out every 2 weeks. lol. I'm a terrible allergy case and took adult shots for 2 years. Polyp surgery a few years ago. There are some that have horror stories about getting sinus surgery but my experience was positive.

I had the surgery and it worked for about a decade. Then right back where I started.

I had it, and it was worth it. I was in my mid-twenties and had a deviated septum and a big honking hump right in the middle of my nose. I was self-conscious about it and so I researched a lot and found that I could totally get the nose job done (LINK / ). Decided to go for it and wasn't disappointed. Everything went well and it looked freaking awesome. I felt more confident than ever before, and even got a few chicks because of my new good looks. So yes, I think it is worth it.
