How does it work if we Rx the first two, but scale the DU's?

They’ll likely either have you doing 50 singles or 100 singles.

You’re just doing scaled.

So, the whole workout is counted as scaled?

Yep.

Put it this way, if I do it and go, 300M row, 10 deadlifts and I get 1 DU, I’m ranked higher than you if you do 8 rounds with all SUs.

That fricking sucks. I've never spent much time on DU's. I can do SU's all day long, and can easily string together 100 or more. That's my fault for not working on them.

I've always looked at CrossFit as a way to get a damn good workout and I always accomplish that even if I scale some things in a WOD. I guess I'll survive.

If you’re looking to “score” do it with dubs one time. If you get one you’ll have a higher score than any scaled competitor. Then just did it scaled to get in a good workout.

Try it Rx to get a score in, then go back and redo scaled to get a workout.

Told Mrs Iwy I was going to post her scores.

For 24.1 she did RX in 12:30. Little 110lb bad arse.

Big Worm,

Been working on DU's here in my living room tonight. I can consistently string one together

So, if I can get at least get one DU, that counts as Rx? Since I'm not where I can string multiples together, do I just do a DU in the open, and then just do SU's the remainder of each round?

This makes me wanna start working on my DU's and get them licked.

Technically you wouldn’t even have to do a single DU. If you did 300m row and 10 deadlifts and absolutely nothing else, you’ll have done the workout Rx.

If you want to be able to submit an Rx score, just keep trying at the DUs. You may surprise yourself and get through the first round of 50. Don’t move onto singles - it will not count and anything you do after won’t count either.

As others have said, if after that you want to get a good workout in, just do the scaled version.

One of the best tips I got from a coach was to stop defaulting to singles. Work on dubs because you’ll see them in the Open. Eventually you’ll get them. And maybe progress to a point where they’re a recovery period.

Unless you’re trying to reach the quarterfinals, we all have things we need to work on. If hand stand walks show up next week, I’m screwed.

If you’re improving and getting more fit, you’re winning. Learning the movements will come.

I've told myself that for about four months now. Unfortunately, I'm competitive (mainly with myself) and want to do all the movements.

You are right though. I'm further along than what I thought I'd be at this point when I first started this ride. I'll just chill the hell out and continue on improving things.

Good advice

What helped me with double unders was to just jump with no rope and tap my thighs twice while in the air. This starts to give you a rhythm and feel that you can translate to your wrist movement with the rope. It still took practice but I feel like that was the real gamechanger for me personally.

I don’t do double unders, I did singles on this one,

Got 7 rounds plus 36 reps (in round 8 finished the 300m row and did 6 deadlifts)

Well, I did Rx. I got 100 DU’s and probably 500 SU’s in two rounds. This has lit a fire under me to conquer DU’s.

Kinda sucks because the rower and DL’s are two movements I’m really good at. Spent all my time jumping rope.
