LIV has a couple concepts I like (teams, looser dress code), and things I absolutely despise (long list, will start with trying to break the game financially).
Young people aren’t failing to watch because the game is boring or they want something more challenging. They’re failing to watch because their dads aren’t teaching them the game, and letting PlayStation be their sport.
Golf is hard, especially as a beginner and kids today just don’t want to do things that are difficult.
So Phil and company in a few years are going to wonder why their model doesn’t work. Remember this for that day.

I’ve never seen more competent junior golfers at our club.
Maybe it’s just that competent junior golfers have gravitated to our club, but man the kids are good.

Total BS. The state of junior golf is the best it’s ever been. Both the quality of play and the number of kids participating. You should get out more.

You getting downvoted but I agree. My give a shite concerning really any tournament on TV outside of the majors is now pretty low with the split. With the majors, we get everyone theoretically all back together so that’s gonna be the true test of competition. Outside of that, unless a select few that pick my interest are near the leaderboard on a regular PGA event or I just like that weeks particular course, I doubt I watch it. Also, I have never watched a LIV event and doubt I ever will.

I guess I’ve divested myself out of watching sports unless it’s dark or weather prevents me from playing golf.
Love the highlights. I follow the majors, but I’ve found the course is less crowded during last round of a major so I play and then catch the highlights.
I don’t think the next generation will watch live sports as much as I did. There are just 24 hours in a day. At some point doing something yourself is more fun than watching somebody else do something.

You are entitled to your own opinion about LIV, but I’m more excited about watching LIV Miami than I am about Valero Open.
Yeah, LIV is different than a PGA Tour event, but nothing about it is going to prevent me from watching guys like Rahm, Koepka, DJ play golf this weekend.

If the kids get engaged, there’s every tool in the market at their disposal. I’d have LOVED to have had a fraction of what they do. When I started the apex club was a persimmon driver, and a video camera wasn’t an option.

I’ve seen the numbers reported, I just don’t see that matching reality anywhere I play. I think their numbers are probably skewed by their adding “off course” numbers. Thank you top golf for at least getting clubs in their hands.
Are they all at the private clubs? Or at least mostly? Probably I’d say.

Not the case around here. My son (17) and his buddies play a minimum 5 times a week, if not more. And that's on top of his golf practice and matches on the high school team. None of the buddies he plays with are on the high school team though. If they ain't doing that they at the camp fishing and swimming or fishing in the few backyard ponds.

Some of the best swings at my club belong to the juniors.
They really move the club beautifully.
I was self taught- and it shows. Our juniors are good golfers. They are polite and sociable. I’ve played 9 with several of them and I’m impressed with the ability and affability of these young golfers.
They could play a little faster. Pace of play in kids tournaments is glacial.

Back in the late 70s, early 80s, I rarely chose to hit driver. It was so hard to find the sweet spot.
Now it’s my go to for every tee shot.
I thought “metal” woods were a fad, but by the mid to late 1980s, they were in my bag.
