RIP Twitch? This setup, quality, and pretty much everything else is better than Twitch.

YouTube Gaming

Features a DVR function so viewers can rewind back to 4 hours, better quality streams, instant chat interaction with no delay (can add delays of course too). App is also now available on iOS and Android.

it will take a massive shift in "perception" - but yeah I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't happen at some time.

(I mean perception in the way people view youtube as the "after the fact" video service, and twitch as the NOW - also I think people view twitch as the gamers paradise much more than youtube as well)

To an extent, of course.

But you're also forgetting one of the main features with YTG, all of those massively popular channels for gaming like Machinima, are now YTG channels.

quote:

Interestingly, it looks like many popular traditional YouTube channels are now YouTube Gaming channels as well, such as Machinima. And this is key to understanding YouTube’s advantage in the streaming game. YouTube is already a popular video site for gaming videos. These popular YouTubers can seamlessly become popular live streamers and take advantage of their existing audience.

I'm definitely team YTG. Twitch is great but I hope most of the big time gamers make the move

Whelp. Twitch is fuuuuuucked if they don't up their game. Let's Play hosts won't have to worry about having separate accounts and having to announce it on social media that they are streaming. They can start it up and it will pop up in their followers' feeds.

Yep, same with so many other game related channels that have HAD to use Twitch for streams, from Battlefield to MLB The Show to Sony and on and on, they all have had to use Twitch to stream a live show/reveal and then they'd upload it to YT for playback afterwards. No need anymore.

As for uprooting subs from Twitch to YT, depends on the streamer, but most big ones have had YT accounts and uploaded clips/highlights and other videos for quite some time and have a lot of subs on YT, wouldn't be that hard for them.

The layout, setup, quality, is just so much better than Twitch. Streamers have to love having the donate button on the message bar too, so so easy to donate versus Twitch. And then if you want to talk about the garbage Twitch App versus the YT Gaming App, not even remotely close there either.

Agree with all this. The layout is just so much more user friendly. You don't have to go through multiple page loads to get to where you want to go.

The video quality is sooooooo much better on YouTube Gaming

Just went on and I didn't care for the layout. Maybe it's my familiarity, but I didn't care for the way youtube had it setup once you clicked to watch someone's stream.

I find the twitch layout a lot more simple to navigate and much more user friendly.

I think people love it because it's new and flashy..and it's youtube.

I'll be watching from twitch still. I like it, and if it ain't broke...

Yeah, makes Twitch look old and out of date.

I didn't notice much difference honestly. I feel like I'm crazy.

Are people just over glorifying it because it's new?

I really don't see how anyone thinks it's SO much better than Twitch.

In what? Quality? I don't know all I see is people saying the quality is so much better not just myself and a few on here. As others have said, YT encoding/compression is just much better, so it's expected. I don't think Twitch is true 1080p either while YTG is if the streamer streams in 1080p, if you turn on Primetime League right now on YTG, the highest option is 720p because Riot only streams League in 720p because Twitch doesn't go higher natively I believe.

I mean, it's personal preference. I have always hated Twitch's setup/layout. Everything about YTG is better to me.

The video quality on my end is much better on YouTube Gaming. I've never watched a game at 720p 60 fps on Twitch. I love Twitch but YouTube gaming has the better video quality right now.

As far as the website layout, it's personal preference. Not saying Twitch's is bad, I just think YouTube Gaming's layout is better.
