I’ve seen a lot of people comparing AC & HZD as being comparable quality wise. I really liked HZD, but would I like Origins if I’ve never played an AC game? I know the general premise of the series but never was interested in the games.

Playing this and having fun, but I was telling Gardoki yesterday that I still feel a pull to get back to my "grown up" games.
And maybe it's a type of game that works best, but I absolutely can't stand playing Odyssey handheld.

Odyssey is REALLY hard on handheld. Like, I can't stand it - even when I would have it on the go I would put the Switch down and play it disconnected, it just didn't work well in handheld for some reason.
ETA: It is the only game so far on the Switch that I wouldn't play with the Pro controller either - it was perfected for the 2 joycons disconnected.

These are my top 3 without question. I've done very poorly at playing recent games so I haven't tried SMO, WW2, or Shadow of War yet. But here are the rest of the games that make the list without me playing some of the big hits.

Nioh or Xenoblade 2 could join the list just have to play more of them. Overall a great year when games like Horizon don't even make my list and I really enjoyed it. No disappointments this year outside of Wolf 2 and slightly Destiny 2.
