I’m curious for people who name Horizon Zero Dawn over AC Origins. Not saying I’m right at all, just curious.
I know we all play games for different reasons. And I do enjoy HZD. But in terms of world building and exploration and simple fun, IMHO, ACO outclasses HZD.

I think they are pretty close. You have to give HZD's world props for originality.
Exploration was better in Origins. Story/music was better in HZD.

I haven’t played AC but even the shitass side quests from HZD are bound to be better than any script-related elements from AC. Ubisoft has embarrassingly bad writers

I haven’t been impressed with amthat much story wise from HZD at all.
At least there is some interesting cultural stuff in ACO. You have missions around crocodiles in ACO and they’re gods and it’s just kinda unique

I played a fair amount. Didn’t finish it but I had gotten through where Spoilers you found out that the machines had originally killed everyone. So I had experienced a lot. I will finish it. It’s good. I just don’t feel like it’s all that different, all things being equal.

I didn’t think the different peoples were all that interesting. I didn’t think any of the side quests were that interesting. I rewatched a review recently and it was talking about how “Horizon didn’t have gather quests”. bullshite.
I don’t particularly like the combat over other systems. The melee sucks and the bow is kinda hard to aim.
These are small things but I just don’t think it’s hands down better than it’s competition.

your incessant whining about my calling out the shitty sidequest writing doesn't get old either. little kids could've written those fetch quests. a year from now, you will not remember a single side quest from HZD

I found combat in HZD tedious. It was always smack the giant robot thing in a tiny arse weakspot that gets highlighted when you slow down time. An analogue stick is just not conducive for that sort of thing.

You are holding the side quests to some weird high standard. No, they won't be on par with the main scenario, like side quests tend to be, but none of them are straight forward fetch quests.
