How is this game so much better than Xenoblade Chronicles?

Rhetorical or not?

I don't think it's better, I think it's just as good in a different way. Chronicles had a great, super interesting story mixed with a unique take on lots of different systems. Throw in affinity, Colony 6, the Battle system, the music, and the experience was just fantastic as a singular narrative storyline.

Personally, Chronicles is a Top 5 RPG for me, along with FF 6, 4, Chrono Trigger, DQ3.

I think X just goes another direction. It's all about the scope and I kind of dig that. The story is less linear and more about getting to know the people around you rather than being driven by an overarching theme/nemesis.

Just got my Skell this weekend. And mastered Galactic Knight, while grabbing Yelv's affinity quest for Essence Exchange, which is super risky, but I've used it well for constant overdrive before the endgame.

I'm doing so much side questing that I've still only made it to Chapter 7 for the main story.

At level 15 right now and about 14 hours in. I haven't gotten my skell yet but from what I've read the game becomes crazy addicting when you do. I'm trying to figure out how to make a "jedi" class and I can't for the life of me do it. It keeps saying I don't have the right class to wield the weapons.

Galactic Knight + Mastermind is the closest you can get. The issue is that 1) There's no such thing as lightning without Astral Crusader 2) The Mastermind powers tht are force-like require the Knife, which doesn't allow you to use the Photon Saber.

I'm doing these two right now, but I've reserved myself to focusing on Photon Saber+Raygun and going down the Ether damage path.

You might want to try Duelist+Galactic Knight also. I'm heading down that path next.

Until you manage to Master a class you can only use the weapons of your current class. So you have to focus down one path first if you want flexibility.

Once you do that, then it opens up.

Chapter 12 is a bitch, had to grind for a level 50 Skell.

Loving this game but still prefer Xenoblade Chronicles, the lack of story in X (or quality) is just not on the same level. Also the music while good has some tracks I have to turn my speakers off for (NLA and flying). Still don't understand why they locked one song to flying.

And XC is a GOAT soundtrack. Music is a big issue for X. Most tracks are forgettable or flat out annoying. I do enjoy Olbivia and Sylvanum though, both day and night tracks.

Kind of late to the game here, saw that it was worth the play and am enjoying it so far. I find myself caught up in doing missions that don't progress the story. There is entirely too much to do

I still haven't beat it, nor really have the drive to. I'm working on Missions, Affinities and just driving around. It's awesome. But I feel I need to get moving to Chapter 10 soon.

I had the same problem. There was so much for me to do that I felt overwhelmed and put the game down for a while.

Just got my skell and I find myself just riding around as well. The world is huge, I do wonder why they give you a mission to kill things in an area that the enemy that spawns for the mission is a level 25 but the area is covered in level 55 enemies to run through. That part doesn't make since to me.

At what point do you get flight?

That's part of the thrill sometimes....

But yes I've been one shotted by some massive flying level 60 while completing a level 25 quest.
